You're right, of course but I was just focusing on Chelsea.

but it makes no sense to deprive them of income as it could well lead to the club being wound up as they can't pay the day to day costs all the while claiming they have been placed under a special licence as a cultural asset .
Apparently their wage bill is £28m per month and they will have no income .

All I can say is they should have thought about that. Chelsea decided, eyes wide open, the path they wanted to take and this is where it led.

I'm guessing the money allocated for plastic flags has been frozen too.:bandit:

Well, Chelsea didn't decide. Ken Bates and Roman Abramovich did. But get your point.

The government is just as corrupt in that sense - they allow all sorts of inward investment from dodgy sources because money makes people suddenly blind and stupid.
But that's an example of whataboutery - a tu quoque argument - the fact that others do it is no mitigation against the actions of those under discussion. Chelsea, the club and its fans were happy to take the good times and turn a blind eye to the source of them, so now they can't complain if it comes back to bite them.
The same applies to the government and authorities who have blithely allowed a bunch of murderers to buy Newcastle - a club and its fans that I used to have a great deal of respect for, now gone out of the window.

It's nit picky but when the owner decides which course is to be taken then he's deciding on behalf of the club itself. He speaks as the club. If there had been any opposition from the board or fans then I could see a case for thinking the measures now are unfair but nobody has ever spoken up against the sale to Abramovich that I'm aware of. The fact that a large section of fans are now chanting his name confirms my view that they are and have been more concerned about money and buying trophies than they have been about what is socially and morally acceptable. Look at the difference with our fans, any hint of something going against, shall we say socialist ideals, and they have been all over it. I would expect us to be against a sale to a sportswasher as well.

Sorry not all of this is directed at what you said, just me going off on one again. <laugh>

Just think chelsea employ a lot of people. Shutting the club shop puts those workers out of jobs etc
