A local academic had two articles in the same edition of the local press. One was pushing the argument for unprecedented rises in sea levels due to industrialisation, the other was an investigation of one of the many villages lost to the sea over the centuries, this specific one in the 1500's due to massive rises in sea levels. They should have included comments on the former Dogger Land Bridge to Europe.

None of which is to say things shouldn't be done to protect resources and the environment.
