If you want to experience high taxes try living in one of the Scandinavian countries.

That said, all the Scandinavian countries have a better standard of living than here and they look after their citizens properly.

Indeed. High taxes aren’t a bad thing if the SOL is high. We have high taxes and millions of people, and rising, in poverty while apparently one of the world’s wealthiest countries.

 

That depends on what you include in the assessment. Social housing is similar in both, and the Scandi's a fractionally better for the basics, but we are better on the wider quality of life. Our beer's a lot cheaper too.

 

It's pathetic and it's only going to get worse.

My last two energy bills have been horrendous and they have just informed me how much more it will be as of April.

I honestly think there will be riots worldwide as the rising cost of everything takes it's toll.

 

We can only hope another five years of Tory rule sorts it out.

 

That's the same in most of the western world though.

There is an argument that fossil fuel reserves in Ukraine are part of why the west has been nudging Putin and propping up the Ukraine puppet Government.

It's also argued that should the west win this, some of the measures pushed under the climate change banner will be pulled back, as there's no longer the need to minimise Russia, and will be an opportunity to sell the fuels.

 

On the plus side, you can't beat the satisfaction of a really good, deep scratch of the itchy brown-eye, and the relief that comes from a liberal application of the best named medical product on the market...

My latest bills for gas and electricity have been £252 a month and next month they will be going up to about £450 a month.
I'd still rather be paying more than getting invaded though.
