So, in theory are the assets wanted to be sold off or just frozen, as surely if the former they need it to still be a viable business. I would imagine players may be able to cancel contracts if they are embargoed long term, which goes against keeping a business operational.
Good point, it might constitute restraint of trade. On Broja, surely there’s nothing to prevent a loan extension is there?
Im not sure how the Broja pice plays out. They cant trade which I assume means loans. See, he should have signed on in January, now he may be playing CB at Chelsea next season as most of theirs are out of contract in a couple of months.
Other than them needing to keep all the players they possibly can? Although their squad gaps (if this carries on) are going to be in defence as three are leaving on free transfers as it stands . Broja can’t help there. Colwill can I wonder if they will be allowed to loan in but can’t pay wages? And some weird trading goes on that way? Kind of moot as if these sanctions continue beyond the end of the season they have big problems
I wonder if they might be kicked out of the league. I assume if you are part of the PL then you have to be paid Sky money as part of the deal, not sure if they can withhold that from Chelsea without kicking them out
Might this be similar to their stance on existing contracts with players - it is already signed up to? So if a new contract was up for negotiation it could be a problem perhaps ?
So Chelsea can be sold if Abramovich stays out of it and doesn't receive a penny from the sale. I guess we're about to find out just how much he cares about Chelsea as he claims to do.
Do you think this includes overnight accommodation? Could this mean the team hotel will now be a Travelodge?
The 20k per game on travel is an odd one. I guess anti money laundering? Avoid shelling out over inflated fees to travel or accommodation providers that you have connections to?
Was trying to work this out myself. 40 people in a party. That is just £500/head for away travel. Sounds a lot, But not is you need a plane, Hotel, proper food (they are athletes).
Where is this from? Is it mentioned in an article discussing this issue or did you check it separately Wondering if there are already pieces saying “how much cash do they have vs wages they have to pay” etc
More from Kieran Maguire on implications for Chelsea: “Chelsea’s wage bill is round about £28m a month. We don’t know how much cash they have in the bank. The most recent accounts we have are from June 2021 when there was £16m in the bank. Abramovich has been injecting money into Chelsea on a regular basis over recent years and presumably that won’t be able to continue.
