There will surely have to be movement on this before the summer otherwise they can’t sell tickets for next year and effectively can’t trade / function. But the sale is apparently on hold

    Massive news

It really depends on the situation with Ukraine doesn't it. If Putin keeps attacking then how can they lift the sanctions on Abramovich? Make no mistake, Chelsea are in big, big trouble.

Does no ticket sales mean no away fans? Sold via the away club but I have no idea how the money is shared/or not with away tickets and the home club. Obviously this is a minor thing in the grand scheme of all this ****, it's just a thought that popped into my head and wondered how that would work.

Good question. I suspect only ST holders be allowed.

I thought that too. Reckon they should be forced behind closed doors if they can't provide for away supporters.

Doesn't seem fair to have only home fans through no fault of the away club or fans though. Be interesting to see what happens there.

So does this mean they can’t buy or sell players?

I mean they could make a profit so it’s a no no surely?

if players want to leave they terminate contracts

    sounds good to me

Shouldn’t allow ST holders either to make it fair imo

    Chelsea can:

    - pay players
    - pay staff
    - fulfil fixtures
    - sell food and drink in the stadium

    Chelsea cannot:

    - engage in any transfers
    - give any new contracts
    - sell any club merchandise
    - sell any tickets (fans who have STs will be permitted to attend as already paid)
    - spend more than £20k per game on travel

With our Gov you'd have thought they'd delayed this a little longer to allow Roman and his pals to sell a few more assets before sanctions.

Good to see a step in the right direction at last, will be interesting to see how this pans out. Hopefully they are crippled financially, sell us Broja on the cheap. More likely the gov will just sell them to the highest bidder and keep the £££.

So if a player wants to leave then contract termination is only option?

So if Chelsea get to Wembley, will part of the ground be full, and part of the ground be empty?

I presume, like us, cup games aren't part of their STs.

I’d imagine Wembley would facilitate all sales, with the assistance of the Chelsea ticket staff. Chelsea just wouldn’t see any of the money.

As for what it means for Broja, I can't decide how I feel about this news. Obviously a ban on player sales would prevent us from signing him until that ban is lifted, but it also prevents anyone else from signing him. And to be honest, I had long since given up hope of it being us who signed him.

If the likes of Arsenal and West Ham move onto, and secure, other targets in the meantime...

    Who knows basically.

The special license Chelsea have been granted runs until the end of May. So the government will have to review Chelsea's status before the transfer window opens.

Of course, Chelsea do have academy players with their contracts expiring in the summer. Where's your cherry picker Semmens?

Also gives Chelsea the chance to play him and see if they want to keep him. If this lasts into next season and he does well for them then any sale may be off the table
