Honestly, I've been feeling that way for decades. As much as I am towards what's happening to Ukraine, I've felt that way towards this sort of **** elsewhere to which we've absolved, made excuses for, and turned a blind eye to other aggressors. I'm glad folk are feeling that anger now. Because that feeling there, is the exact feeling people in parts of the middle-east have had burning inside them for years over Israel's 55 year illegal occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. And that feeling is made worse by the fact the people of those occupied lands have had the world turn their backs on them, created a narrative that they are the aggressors and the superpower occupying them are the victims. For far too long I've been of the opinion dialogue and diplomacy is necessary to resolve that conflict. Maybe I've been brainwashed into that view all along, because now I'm watching how people react to something close to their heart, when a regional superpower decides to overpower and occupy a less powerful nation of people, which ignites something within them. There's no talking to Putin because he's going to do what he wants, and he'll do it because he can and nobody's going to change his agenda. So fighting that **** and his armies is the only way Ukraine has a chance of surviving. And so why should I begrudge the likes of Hamas or Fatah taking the war to Israel and their armies. And maybe just maybe I might support the right for folk elsewhere in the world who have the same sympathy for those downtrodden Palestinians as any of us have for the Ukrainian people, to go and fight with them to drive out their illegal occupiers.
Yup. I saw the hospital and pregnant women in the stretchers and people calling it war crime and It is and i felt incredibly sad for them. I think why didnt they leave when they could but understadably not everyone can leave or move or want to go and ultimately its not their fault As you say though I'm pretty sure our bombs of peace has smashed plenty of hospitals and schools and no one has given a **** so its not a surprise people become terrorists to get revenge.
I've only just seen the size of the crater from the Russian attack on the hospital, what the hell sort of bomb did they drop to cause that.
Put Ukraine under complete Russian occupation for a couple of decades, have them run out of all the fancy armaments the world is supplying them so they end up with a few rudimentary rocket launchers, and see what they resort to. By the way, we're still supplying bombs to Saudi and killing children in Yemen but there's no conflict of conscience there, no anger, because you know... it's over there somewhere the media and the world isn't interested in and our defence contracts and jobs mean more.
Indeed my friend ... a phrase that has resonated with me for decades is "... one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter..." ... quite often it is the colour of a man's skin that defines which ... the West has stood by and, by doing and saying nothing, allowed and 'legitimised' the invasion, illegal occupation and displacement of many Palestinians with scarcely the bat of an eyelid ...
In ALL the news you're watching during this conflict, how often do you see the victims in Ukraine telling their accounts of the attrocities being committed followed up with someone from the Russian government being brought on to counter it??? I'm betting not once. That bomb BRB mentioned above that flattened the hospital. If that was in Gaza (which has happened in their conflict) you'd have an Israeli minister immediately on the news claiming the killing of innocent victims was legitimate because they're being used as human shields. Could you imagine the response to the Russians coming out with that bollox?
My only agenda is to point out what a snide bunch of ****s our government is https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...tm_source=esp&utm_medium=Email&CMP=GTUK_email
Posted a link earlier in the thread about how inept this Govt are with all of this. They have been woefully unprepared for this refugee crisis and have tried to shoehorn an old visa system in to cope, when it was obvious it wouldn't work. Two Home office ministers admitting that their dept is a shambles, calling it 'cock-up rather than conspiracy' Let's not forget though that this culture comes off the back of May's 'Hostile atmosphere' and Patel's equally unsympathetic approach to immigration, fuelled by years jingoistic bullshit from the right wing press about asylum seekers clogging our hospitals, schools and stealing our jobs Now we have a real refugee crisis in Europe (not that it should matter where it comes from) we see that our Govt are embarrassingly ill equipped to deal with it.
With Israel it's also the fact that it is essentially a country that only exists because it was created by the West. Without getting into the religious aspect of it, because both Jews and Muslims have both fought and lived together in peace in that region over the last 2000 years, it is simply a stark example of massive inequality, illegal occupation, displacement, humans rights abuses, land and resource grabs not just ignored by the West, but actually supported with arms and finance. It remains as one of the most glaring examples of hypocrisy in the West. Illegal occupation is okay if it's your mates.
US saying Russia could launch a chemical attack! Need to stfu, they've no ****ing idea and to are making things up to justify their coming involvement.
Posted this yesterday West fears Russia could use non-conventional weapons This most likely refers to chemical weapons although the term also covers tactical (small-scale) nuclear weapons, biological weapons and dirty bombs. "We've got good reason to be concerned," said one Western official. They said this was partly because of what had been seen in other places where Russia has been engaged in conflict, notably Syria where chemical weapons were used by its allies. Officials also pointed to some of the disinformation and claims coming from Russia as potentially "setting the scene" for some kind of "false flag" claim that the Ukrainians had used them - or developed weapons. The Western official said similar stories had come from Russia before their use in Syria. There were "other indications as well", they said - likely referring to some kind of intelligence. "It's a serious concern for us." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60683248
It's crazy out there in the media, so much **** flying around I just hope this doesn't get silly as it'll end up in the very worst scenario. The West should be going all out for peace but I fear they are no better than Russia it's the normal people who are going to suffer in all this.
It wouldn't be the first time Russia has used chemical weapons though. West saying they have 'intel' that they are planning something. But you're right, the sabre rattling and accusations on both sides will just ratchet up hostilities.
