Good Morning. It's Wednesday 9th March, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Raphinha set to leave in the Summer

Multiple media sources have claimed that Raphinha wants to leave in the Summer, but not before he's helped Leeds secure Premiership survival. In truth, the Brazilian ace has not been the same since returning from International duty at the end of January. Raphinha has drifted in and out of games over the past couple of months, looking disinterested at times. This has prompted speculation that one of his International teammates, that play at Anfield, may have had a word or two with him!

Currently, he has just over two years left on the contract, and a 65 m release clause. Leeds have been trying in vain to persuade him to sign new terms that would give Radrizzani the upper hand when negotiations take place to sell his most influential talent!

Many believe Leeds only have themselves to blame. They failed to build on the success of last season, when they were riding the crest of a wave. Instead, they stood still whilst their flimsy squad buckled under pressure.

    Next five games are crucial

If Leeds are to survive, come May, they need to turn things around, and fast. They have 11 games left, and need to average a point every game to reach the magical figure of 34 points, which should guarantee Premier League survival.

Their next run of games after Villa are vital. Norwich are the visitors to Elland Road on Sunday, then we have an away trip to Molineux, followed by a tricky tie at Vicarage Road and finally Southampton at Home. Apart from Wolves, Jesse Marsch and his squad have the most chance of picking up wins from these teams.

How many points do Leeds need from the next five games? Are we at the stage that Norwich and Watford are must win games? Bookies have slashed the odds of Leeds going down from 6/1 to 7/4; only the current bottom three have smaller odds.

Having Bamford and Phillips back in action will hopefully have a dramatic effect on the team. Both are expected to make the bench tomorrow evening, and with any luck may start on Sunday against Norwich.

    Harrison praise for Marsch

Jack Harrison has told BBC Radio Leeds, that since his arrival at Elland Road, new Manager Jesse Marsch has had a very positive influence on the players, and praised his communication skills. Marsh, a former midfielder with over 300 club appearances and two International Caps for the USA has been able to relate to players at a level that Bielsa would have found difficult. According to Harrison:-

“That was one of the first things we noticed, how he’s able to communicate really well with players and understand the players’ ambitions and feelings, and just have a positive outlook,” “It’s been incredible to have him in, he’s had a really positive impact and made a really, really good first impression. He’s got everyone excited again and he’s motivating everybody in the right direction.”

So, Raphinha wants to help us stay in the Premier before leaving in the summer
He should have tried helping us from the start of the season

Lots of heavy lifting done by “multiple media sources and many believe” pointless talking about this until someone gives you facts, not Karen Carney or Gabby Agbonlahors truth. From what Ive seen this last week is that Rapha looks happier now Marsch is here because I think he was peed off with Bielsa the last couple of weeks. He is smiling and close to the group as could be seen in Rodrigos birthday photos. Hes also saying good things in social media.

Presser later so lets see what JM has to say

I reckon the new pecking order for starting at No9 is Rodrigo, followed by Joffy followed by Paddy against Villa. For Norwich I expectit to Rodrigo followed by Paddy then Joffy and the following match will be Paddy followed by Joffy as Rodrigo used elsewhere

Everton could reportedly be hit with a potential points deduction as they prepare to negotiate with the Premier League over their financial accounts.

There are fears that they could become the first club to breach the top flight's profit and sustainability rules, having recorded combined losses of over £260million between 2017 and 2020, but Covid-19 has had a massive impact in these figures.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Everton were set to publish their accounts for the 2020/21 campaign last December, but this has been delayed as they seek confirmation from the league over how much has been effected by the pandemic.

Got to be honest, regardless of talent, when a player stops putting the effort in, that really irks me and since January, that's the case with Raphinha, I'd give him 3 more games to get his act together, if nothing changes, bench him.
    We need points not sulkers.

EXCLUSIVE: Everton risk a Premier League points DEDUCTION as they teeter on the brink of breaking profit and sustainability rules after recording combined losses of over £260m between 2017 and 2020 - £155m more than is allowed over a three-year period
    • Everton are yet to publish their accounts for the 2020-21 Premier League season
    • It is anticipated that the accounts will include another loss in excess or £100m
    • A deadline of later this month has been made for all Premier League clubs to submit up-to-date accounts
By MATT HUGHES FOR THE DAILY MAIL

Everton are preparing to negotiate with the Premier League over their financial accounts amid fears they could become the first club to breach the top flight's profit and sustainability rules.
The club were due to publish their accounts for the 2020-21 season last December, but publication has been delayed as they seek clarification from the Premier League over how much of their losses can be offset due to the impact of Covid. Everton recorded combined losses of over £260m between 2017 and 2020, which in ordinary circumstances would represent a clear breach of Premier League rules, which state that clubs are only permitted to lose a maximum of £105m over three years.

It is anticipated that the 2020-21 accounts will include another loss in excess or £100m and the club's financial problems have worsened even further since they were forced to sever links with major sponsor Alisher Usmanov last week - which could cost them £300m over the next 20 years. The Premier League have set a deadline of later this month for all clubs to submit up-to-date accounts, as well as forecasts for the rest of the season. The process of vetting the accounts will take a few months, with any clubs in breach to be charged at the end of the season.

Premier League rules state that clubs in breach of their spending rules can be fined or docked points, but have yet to find any of their members guilty. The spending rules have been altered as a result of the pandemic, with the three-year assessment period extended to four. The two Covid-affected seasons when crowds were largely absent will be put together and an average taken, to provide a figure for the allotted three years.

The Toffees were forced to sever links with major sponsor Alisher Usmanov last week - which could cost them £300m over the next 20 years - following Russia's invasion of Ukraine Everton still appear at risk of being found in breach however, leading them to petition the Premier League for allowances to be made due to Covid. In their 2019-20 accounts £67m of the club's losses were directly attributed to the pandemic.

The Premier League have indicated they will permit so-called add-backs due to Covid, but have no fixed criteria as to what they include, with each submission to be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Everton's concern about their losses was shown last summer when their transfer spending was dramatically curtailed. After investing around £450m on new players over the last six years, Everton brought in four players on free transfers last summer and signed Demarai Gray from Bayer Leverkusen for £1.7m.

Klopp said that Inter Milan were set up like Leeds under Bielsa although Milan had more quality players…….seems a fair comparison because lets face facts Bielsa took championship players into the top flight but Milans team is worth hundreds of millions.

Heard the interview of Harisson and to me it sounded like Bielsa had lost the dressing room. It also sounded like Marsch has lifted the spirt in the squad.

Must say I’m starting to look forward to the game against Villa:emoticon-0148-yes:

Barcelona dont have a pot to piss in and only sign freebies.even then they need to sell players to allow them to sign a freebie as player registrations are also under review from La Liga.

As usual too many give too much time to believing bollox. Dont believe me, ask Este :emoticon-0148-yes:
