Yes i stole the brilliant pun from the BBC, but my question is whether this guy is actually any good? From what i saw (other than the horrendous mistake) he looked solid, but obvioulsy that mistake will mare what people saw in the game. He was obvioulsy good in the Copa America but maybe he is another Babel, good in one tournament and that is it.
Just wanted to know your initial thoughts upon him, and whether he will be good or not? Football Manager reckons he will be very good so ill go with that
Had an absolute cracking game, other than the unfortunate mistake. He looks very comfortable in the tackle, can play the ball like Agger and is clearly great in the air. Yeah he's made a couple of errors since joining but thats down to learning a completely different type of league. I truly believe he will become one of the best defenders we've had in years. I've watched loads of him in various tournaments and any clips I've found online and he has impressed everytime. I predict big things for the lad.
I agree Sky. But what impressed me was the way he shrugged his mistake off and got on with the job. He looks calm and knows what he's doing i was impressed.
i think he needs more game time. skertl got it at the start of his career but the issue is will we accept a few errors from him as others are flogging goals and getting away with it.
Thats the thing his mistake spurred him on and he played fantastic after it. Great attitude and loads of bottle for a young player - very good signs.
He was awesome today really ( bar the mistake) time after time his tackles were on point and he just looks comfortable back there. I would actually like to see him get a run of games or at least maybe even West Brom and Swans, I know he won't, but I think he would do well in those games.
Thought he was excellent tonight, very composed, brilliant reader of the game, and great at nicking the ball of the attckers foot, just the one error.Have a feeling the lad is gonna be a really classy player BTW Danny Agger ,class again tonight
Morning Sky. Seems we're back in the Land of the Living Dead again. Didn't see the match, but saw the goals this morning. How were we overall, bar the goals, which were excellent?
Don't forget lads, it was only what, his second game for the club? It takes time to adjust to a new league for a foreigner, so i'd give him more than 2 games to prove his worth.
I just think the boy, as thats what he is has got to get games to develop into the tye of player we'd like him to be. As long as guys ahead of him in the pecking order like skertl and carragher keep flogging goals and agger keeps getting injured i don't see why he doesn't play more cos to be honest one mistake a game is what we seem to be seeing anyway. his height just makes him an attractive option.
Got to say I have been impressed so far but thats a mighty big prediction. Was impressed with his composure on the ball and all round game. All in all I thought the defence played well as stoke had very few chances despite them lumping it into the box whenever they could. As good as the defence were though, Agger stood out a mile and was phenomenal last night.
Didn't see the game last night (on my jollys in Portugal ) but as with any new player it does take time to settle so it's good to read the positive comments about him from last night I remember Hyppia and Henchozs first two months together as centre backs and they both had wobbly moments and they were players with much more experience so I think we'll all forgive him the odd howler as long as he seems confident in what he's doing and when he does make mistakes he doesn't turn into a wobbling jelly with nerves of custard. A player I'm really looking forward to watching develop and as stated above someone we need to give time, support and be patient with
