looks like coaching boots a I would prefer Wigan! They play MK Dons this Saturday. Lots of twists and turns to come yet
Good to see Luke back last night...love the lad,we've missed him. Matete excellent aswell....what a player he's going to be for us.
Interesting g to see the top 10 on form are almost the top 10 as is, but definitely not in that order. Wycombe currently out of top 10 on form, replaced by Bolton who are 11th in the league. we could do with Rotherham turning the stools over this Saturday.
As had been said.... We were dire last night especially in the 1st half A couple of changes at half-time helped us to improve in the 2nd half. Played poorly but won... hay ho. We just have to win all games from now on and hope rivals drop points.. Let's do it!
Agreed, his movement and intelligence caused them problems. Obviously he’s not the Defoe we had and this is a problem a number of fans who were desperate for him causes. But Broadhead is the important one. Get and keep him fit we’ve got a good chance
Also the injury time was, once again, a disgrace. When teams waste time and end up being behind at injury time, the ref should ignore the time wasting. Was hilarious watching their forward complaining about Patterson time wasting when they’d done it from minute 1!!
Can't say I was overly impressed with Roberts, appreciate it was his first game in ages but didn't seem to have much end product. Matete needs someone else alongside him as he was having to do everything first half
No offence mate, and there are others doing it regularly, but harking back to what Johnson would and would not have done seems irrelevant to me. He is gone. I could just as easily say if Johnson had been allowed to manage a team with Matete and Clarke we would be pushing for top 2 now not scrambling for play offs. Neil is in charge, he has yet to demonstrate he is the man for the job, but he is doing some good tbings, like last night at half time, so best to focus on him and not keep referencing old opinions of the last fella. Just my opinion, and no doubt influenced by my opiniom Johnson was sacked too soon.
I remember us signing a 37yo Brian Dean when MMc was manager. He played 4 or 5 games and scored 0 goals. but he won a 30/70 header against Ipswich that set up Carl Robinson to score. That got us a point and gave us momentum to then win our last 3 games and win the league. I wouldn't rule out Defoe doing something similar - a single moment in a play off semi or something like that
Something fundamentally wrong with that system, it turned out as a reward for spoiling tactics, fortunately they were not good enough to take the advantage that the stupid rules had presented them with, alls well that ends well as someone once said, but it could have been so different.
2nd half one of their players went on his knee to tie his boot lace..was sure he was gonna lie on the pitch with a sprained finger!
Sorry Fell but I have to disagree on this one, LJ's influence is still relevant to this season's outcome, his game management was an embarrassment, he made mistake after mistake but people continued to defend him and his stupid patter, when it was obvious he was out of his depth. Its strange that some of his staunchest supporters have disappeared from this site, but I fully expect them to return if Alex does not get promotion this season, however I firmly believe that if he Alex Neil had started this season as our manager we would be firmly embedded in the top two this morning. OaU.
Agree with this. Club made a big blunder in not having someone to take the reins immediately. If they had Neil straight after the Bolton game I think we’d now be pushing for automatic promotion not hoping for a play off place. Shouldn’t have ridden the Roy Keane bandwagon. but, all that is hindsight. Easy placing a bet with hindsight!!
Fair enough mate. You will know I disagree though. Just dont see the point in comparing this fella with old one. I reckon I was his number 1 fan, and remain so, but we have had our debates about him and I have the utmost respect for yours and others people's opinion, its just that I know I am right I certainly wont leave this fine board just because my choice of manager got the sack. I am interested though you think Neil is the man. He has my 100% backing and I hope you are right. I am yet to have that confidence in him personally. What he did at half time last night was good, but I could find examples of Johnson getting subs right, just dont have the energy for it mate. OaU as you say and lets all be behind the gaffer while he is in charge.
It is mate and we all make mistakes, just read my previous clanger on this very thread, I was woke up this morning (that would make a good intro) by a nightmare ( I do have them a lot ) that decent supporters had thrown themselves off Wearmouth Bridge thinking we had lost 1-3, I kid you not.
