Forgive me here but I am just a layman, but wouldn't inflating the attendance figures have consequences with regards tax on income ? By inflating the numbers wouldn't they have to pay more in taxes ? It's a genuine question.. other then trying to hide the damage they were doing to the fan base, what would they gain ? Seems like cutting off their nose to spite their face, or am I missing something ?
Again forgive me here, but is it just profits they are taxed on or income ? Seems somewhat strange that they publicly announce one number then disclose another to the taxman ? Seems fraudulent on the face of things. Again I have no experience in these things of business finances, so am just trying to get my head round it.
You only pay corporation tax on profits and VAT on sales, but always based on what you declare to the taxman, there's no legal obligation to declare accurate numbers at a game. Just as there was nothing to stop Ehab claiming we had a mid-table wage bill, it was completely made up, ours is one of the lowest in the league. Basically, he was just a lying twat.
He’s a boring full of **** know nowt dressed up in achingly long boring posts telling posters what they should do.
I'm not sure that the accounts would show the actual number of tickets sold would they? For each game? It wouldn't show corporate tickets that are included in sponsorship packages, nor the amount specifically given away free to schools or community partners. Players guest tickets for both home and away teams, scouts and oppositon directors would make up another 70 - 100 people per game too. It would just show a figure for ticket sales surely? I have never looked at a set of accounts so apologise and stand corrected if I am wrong. For example the club I work for our Main sponsor has 30 match tickets included in the sponsorship deal they signed with us and are on the gate each week despite them never turning up. Their 5 figure payment is down as sponsorship on the accounts but their request for 30 x passes was priced into that figure when we sold them it so they have in fact bought 30 x passes but hardly ever use them. I'm not saying Dad and Lad Allam were being totally up front and honest about attendances but they could well have been putting things like FA Tickets in there which they are obliged to hold for every single club if they want to send someone to watch a game. I bet if you were creative you could easily find a justifiable reason to add 1000 to any gate with stupid things like that being included as a technicality. Something I would not put past them.
They show the actual average attendance for the season and it was thousands less than the Allams had claimed. No doubt you can find examples of people with tickets that haven't attended, but there aren't thousands of them for every game, they made the numbers up (it was clear just from being at games that the announced attendances were nonsense).
