Are Everton going to escape the drop ?? On the performance yesterday they do not appear to have the spine that the perennial relegation candidates elect seem to have come the business end of the season.
Burnley and Watford have definitely shown more grit in recent weeks, but what may seal their fate is their brutal run-in Everton Wolves (h) Newcastle (h) West Scam (a) Man Utd (h) Saltypool (a) Chelsea (h) Leicester (a) Brentford (h) Arsenal (a) Burnley Brentford (a) The Sheikh Mansour Team (h) Norwich (a) West Scam (a) Wolves (h) Watford (a) Villa (h) Spurs (a) Newcastle (h) Watford Wolves (a) Southampton (a) Liverpool (a) Leeds (h) Brentford (h) The Sheikh Mansour Team (a) Burnley (h) Palace (a) Leicester (h) Chelsea (a) Leeds Villa (h) Norwich (h) Wolves (a) Southampton (h) Watford (a) Chelsea (h) Palace (a) The Sheikh Mansour Team (h) Arsenal (a) Brighton (h) Brentford (a) Looking at those run-ins, I can't see Everton winning more points than Burnley, Watford or Leeds
Everton have got 11 games left and I think that Burnley (A) and Watford (A) are missing here. Those games plus Brentford and Newcastle could have a lot to do with staying up or not. They also have the FA Cup to deal with, though Palace will fancy putting them out in that.
It will likely come down to who has to play the most : 1. "6 pointers" against fellow relegation candidates elect 2. clubs who are still in a fight for something (PL title, CL slot etc) Based on what has been stated on the fixtures, it does appear that Everton may not be able to escape.
Those games haven't been scheduled yet - although it does have to be said that, on current form, I can absolutely see Burnley getting three points off them
Inter's kit is everything that's wrong with modern kits, in my opinion. It's hideous, doesn't look like an Inter kit, has a horrendous sponsor and it clashes with their first kit. please log in to view this image
My time line on Twitter has been taken over by Newcastle fans , it's like going for a walk and getting surrounded by a herd of zebras, this is going to get worse
As bad as Everton are, and no doubt they are an appalling team (as a collective), I still don't see them going down. I can envisage them running things very close, but they do have enough quality players to avoid the drop. I'm not sure when Mina is supposed to be back from injury, but if he's back soon, that'll be a big boost to their defence. Likewise with Ben Godfrey. Richarlison, Gray, Townsend, Rondon, Gordon and Calvert-Lewin are good enough forward/attacking options to keep them up. Their midfield isn't too bad, either, especially compared to the teams they're in a dog fight with. They have got some quality in their side. For me, a lot depends on their mindset. I don't think many of these players have been in a relegation scrap before (El Ghazi, Begovic, Pickford and Keane are the only ones IIRC). If their application and attitude doesn't match the teams they're fighting with, then it's going to be extremely difficult for them to maintain their top-flight status. Lampard also needs to sort his tactics out. There isn't enough time to implement an expansive, progressive style. He has to work with what he has and play to the strengths of what he's got. If that means long diagonals into a target man and whipping crosses into the box, then so be it.
Yeah unfortunately I think they will just survive. In an ideal world Everton and Leeds would both go down but I think it will be Norwich, Watford and Burnley. I’ve not seen anything from Lampard that shows me he’s the type to take them up the league away from trouble long term though.
Another good game between these two with Mbappe yet again being the man to break the deadlock. Hard to see Madrid winning this but you can never rule them out.
