I never mentioned the City. They of course do include the rich and the fund managers are there to make money for their clients or course. I am blaming Government though who give every opportunity for the rich to get richer by what they do. I then said it's because MPs get lucrative jobs in the City with Companies and I stand by that statement. MPs have no regard for little people mostly because they can't feed their trough sufficiently. As for the energy increases well that's just typical of certain Companies cashing in on an opportunity. The price hikes will remain long after the price of energy reduces which in the end it will. The though process being that the great unwashed will get used to paying that inflated price so they won't complain anymore. Why bother to put it back down then. The inflation rate is not the 5% they claim in reality. It is more like 20 to 25% when it covers things people actually use from day to day to live. Many people are struggling with bills and the like now and once the increases bite there will be many many more who sink under the weight of it all. The question is what do people do when they can't feed their kids anymore. Let them die of hunger or fight back in some way. Watch the crime rates go through the roof ultimately because lets face it we would do anything to protect our own wouldn't we. I might not like it but I would do what it takes myself.
**** it, I Sensible I give up. It's not like you imagine. Nevertheless, I'm to your left v Morecambe. COYG.
I had to read it twice before the penny dropped. Joke I came across in the local residents association magazine' I went to the doctors with hearing problems. The doctor asked me to desribe the symptoms ? I said : "Yes, Homer is a chubby chap and Marge has blue hair,"
Really? It's not like I imagine. So the rich aren't getting richer then and the poor aren't going to struggle. Ok lets see what happens then. Mind you half the population deserve what they get. I have heard such ridiculous comments about people like Boris as an example. "He's got nice hair" was one. Yes that was a serious comment about why they voted for him. The older I get the more left I become due mainly to the current mob just proving me right over and over again. Thing is I don't even think I'm left in reality it's just what the lot put on you as a label when you don't conform to their views.
If you ever want evidence that the High Street is dead.....drive around here on dustbin day....I would guess that over 60% of houses have not just newspapers to get rid of.... but piles of cardboard boxes....mostly with Amazon written on.
With the price of fuel I'm surprised you can afford to drive around your neighbourhood checking on the inmates rubbish bins. Do 60% of your neighbours still buy newspapers or is it just you? I have never ever had a delivery from Amazon in my life. However, one of the delivery people does know the woman 2 doors down by her first name now he has been there so often.
I finally got a proper reply from EDF this evening on my complaint. I was slightly shocked that the person replying actually said that the system (blame the Computer) does generate a high reading to prompt a response if they have a query. What a way to run a business that is and the shock bit is the admission. It did take 5 paragraphs of waffle to get to that point though. I have been offered £30 in one paragraph as a sorry and £40 in another. I have obviously opted for the higher amount. My moto was to always check your wording before pressing print or send but clearly it isn't theirs. I did take a bit of pleasure in pointing out the double offer though.
1.....Going to the supermarket. 2.....Yes quite a few do. 3.....How else do you get what you need....when the High Street is only Coffee Shops/Charity Shops/Estate Agents/or boarded up shops. Amazon generally cheapest place and quite often free and quick delivery......and saves time and travelling expenses.
1. Walk or get the bus. 2. Not in my street they don't. 3. I go online, find out who sells what I want and I go there. Generally at no extra cost really although sometimes it is dearer. It's called keeping your High Street alive. Why would you want to pay for the owner of Amazon to finance a Space flight? And to think it started out as a book shop.
No 3......Isn't realistic.....Mrs Plym orders plants from Nurseries that are miles away and are delivered when that plant is available for sale....could be Mar/Apr/May/Jun......some other things would take you a whole day to go to and come home from and travelling cost would be high....not covered by your freedom pass and would be difficult to transport home. The High Street has been broken for years....it all started with Woolworths folding...big Departmental Stores have gone....only M&S down the bypass left.....Tesco, Sainsbury, Dyas, Boots and Smiths left on the High Street and most of them are smaller branches without a wide range of goods.....our Bank/Building Society opens only three and a half days a week...and it's one of the biggest.
Other than a supermarket, DIY store and IKEA under inducement of a full English breakfast, I'm hard pressed to say when I last went into a physical shop.
If you don't have home delivery (I don't) then you are a complete sexist pig notdistant and you should be sharing the shopping duties for the next days diner and not leave it all to the Lady.
I'll have you know I do all the cooking! And the grocery shopping, which takes quite a while, mostly spent in the off-licence department.
I must learn to read all of the post first. You did say "Other than Supermarkets". I have to do accompanied shopping mainly due to the fact Herself can't see prices on shelfs and sometimes has been known to pick up a piece of Beef for Sunday lunch and tell me the Lamb looks nice. If I didn't accompany god knows what we would end up with at times. I do breakfast and assist with later meals for example by peeling spuds and cutting up veg etc. I don't trust her with sharp implements and that's not because of the danger to herself.
Can it get any worse? Nuclear power India accidentally fired a missile into nuclear power Pakistan today. It flew 80 miles into Pakistan at 40,000 ft and Mach 3 after a "technical failure during maintenance". Someone must have been testing the Big Red Button marked "DO NOT PRESS".
