Popular myth which they are happy to let run…relegated in 1930, promoted straight back up, and again in 1950, promoted back in 1954, so they have only missed 4 seasons of top flight football.

Arsenal (as Woolwich Arsenal) have only been relegated once, in 1913. Although they finished 5th in the second division in 1919 the first division was enlarged and they were ‘invited’ to join. So their entire history is based on a bit of fraud.
