Great thread I’m going 3-0 the lads I wouldn’t change a back 4 that’s had 2 clean sheets on the trot tho hopefully get an early goal to settle us then kick on
Some of it is injury / fitness related - xhemajli and Pritchard. Some of it is about trying to improve. I agree performances are on the up but it is only 1 win in 5 for Neil so far, he has hardly set the world alight and nor have the team. In games against sides struggling, like Fleetwood and Charlton, he needs to braver and Neil for Evans makes sense to me whereby Neil offers much more in poseesion and open play. He has had a break, like Doyle, and these are players who have been among our best this season.
Yep, all the above is positive. A win is paramount.... So I'll start with a clean sheet please... Defoe to at lease make the bench... Clarke and Roberts to start would be a feelgood factor for me too. Come on me Bonny ladssssss !!!
Ah I see. Haven’t really seen much post match!! Fair enough. Hopefully we can ensure things are working right as he’s been impressive
Assuming Pritchard is out and Xhemajli rested. I'd go: Patterson Winchester Wright Doyle Cirkin Evans Matete Gooch Broadhead Clarke Stewart Subs: Hoffmann, Hume, Xhemajli, Neil, Defoe, Embleton, Roberts
Great thread as ever RTB and agree with most of what you've said, 2-0 home win should cheer us all up after Saturday. Ha’way the Lads
HA'WAY THE LADS MACKEMS ATTACKEM Well I lost heart with recent results, coupled with struggling with night shifts lately I couldn't be arsed. Even the Wigan result wasn't enough to get my hopes up. Hopefully we scrape into the playoffs now and who knows, we could end up the form team. I didn't watch the Charlton game, stayed in bed late off night shift. I'll watch this one and hopefully we win. 1-0 will do me. If we lose I'm not posting again
Team News: Luke O’Nien and Jermain Defoe could be involved when Sunderland AFC face Fleetwood Town at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday evening (KO 7.45pm). O’Nien underwent shoulder surgery earlier in the campaign and hasn’t featured since November, whilst Defoe missed the trip to Charlton Athletic. Alex Neil is also quietly optimistic that Alex Pritchard’s injury isn’t as serious as initially feared, but the full extent will be determined by a scan and the midfielder will not feature against the Cod Army. The Head Coach also provided an update on Danny Batth’s recovery, revealing the defender is closing in on a return to action. “It has been a slow burner [with Danny Batth],” said Neil. “He’s tried to come back on two separate occasions and on both we have probably made the situation a little bit worse – hence the reason why he’s been out for this length of time – but it’s not anything severe and hopefully over the next week it should start to clear up and we can hopefully get him going.” He continued: “Immediately, Alex will not be available for the short term. “We will get more news on the scan this evening and I don’t think it’s as bad as first feared because the swelling isn’t as bad as we expected, so hopefully that’s a good sign. “Luke was in the [travelling] squad for the last game, but he hadn’t done much so naturally he is one step closer, and JD, who obviously missed out [on Saturday] with a niggle, has the potential to be involved.”
Be great to see O'Nien back in the squad. Of all our injured lads he could have the biggest impact for the remainder of the season in my opinion.
I will stick with my silly predictions and I have about 10 games to get 1 right. 8-0. Stewart & Broadhead HT's, Gucchi and Winny to complete the rout.
Agreed. Seen them getting some unnecessary abuse on here over the last few days. Not their fault at all.
Another match thread, another dig at Sunderland supporters Here's some of your own abuse about the whole team. "It’s absolutely disgusting how we’ve collapsed. Useless the lot of them."
