Fair point. How did I manage to get the wrong one in autocomplete? Surely an Android tablet should be using American English. The only spelling they use is racket.

The word racquet comes etymologically from the Middle French word raquette or the Flemish word raketsen. It is not French – if you put it into a French translator, it will give you ‘raquette’.

Given the derivation of large parts of the English language from other languages this looks like a desperate attempt to bring Brexit into a discussion about Russians.
