The other consideration I would chuck in is that every football club turns over about 15-20% of its regular fans every year anyway. People find other things to do, have kids, move away, die, all sorts of things that stop them from attending. And a new cohort comes in to take their place.

That’s why I never believed that fans would return from day one - because the ‘natural wastage’ fans can’t return for their own reasons, and it takes time to attract new ones. And the previous owners, at times, did very little to attract new fans.

I stopped going because of the Allams and have gradually lost interest in the game. I'm still a football fan and certainly a City fan, but even I was surprised that the Allams' departure didn't mean an instant return of my passion for the club. In the last 8 years I've been to about six games, only one at home and that only because I was given a friend's season ticket for the match (and I refused to buy a programme, pie, pint, etc when I was there). I even missed our first and only experience of European football. I have found other interests to fill my time, and I sometimes have to work Saturdays which makes getting to the game a rush anyway, but it's hard to see me ever going back to how I was. It's easy to get the football bug, not so easy to revive it once lost

It’s easy to revive with an ambitious side to follow, games like saturday make us all feel low but it only takes getting abit of luck as a fan and going to a game like last weekend at Peterborough and itd all come back to you I feel.

I know we are all different , a quote of my wife’s that stopped me from getting too angry or frustrated with so many people, but whilst I have discussed on here how close I’ve come to stopping watching football - I just couldn’t do it. Maybe those who have don’t have the same longevity , history, parochial and emotional attachment that maybe I have The thought of missing a good match or a goal nowadays more at home than away won’t let me stop. Met one of our well known ex players and had a discussion about the owners and he said that if you were a fan you go regardless because you are a fan - which is the point I’m trying to make . I’m sure I’ll get stick for this but maybe some of those stopping going were not as devoted as they thought unlike the ones who continue to go til they die , or don’t have that strange thing inside you for ‘ when Saturday comes’
It’s not the super fan thing so let’s not start that again - it’s just the difference?

They're not. Everybody has their own reasons and it's not up to me to try and change the way they want to carry on.

I do try to influence things, but to be honest, it's not going well.

My crowd, at least for now, seem to have moved on to new things, which to be honest, I can understand.

    It’s **** isn't it.

That’s a real shame, he’s done a terrific job in multiple roles over the last 8 years. An unsung hero

He as, but Shota's brought his own man in, so we all move on, including Tony Pennock.

    Thanks for your contribution Tony!

Hopefully bringing in more coaches like Van Der Veen with knowledge of the game on a European scale who’ll also help attract better players.

Not having a go at you but it’s
A statement said a lot on here
They’ve found other interests or other things!!

    WTF

I’ve been well aware of other things on a Saturday afternoon and found them all to be **** compared to football, either playing it or watching it. There isn’t anything to compare to it.
We now have an owner who flys thousands of miles to watch his team play yet our die hards can’t come a few miles cos they’ve got other things!!
Funny how these die hards are on here at Match time or whining about humberside so they can listen to their team.

I have been to 3 games and have 4 more on my super saver which I will attend if I can. I am struggling with a knee injury (old football problem) so getting there and back is difficult at the moment. Am waiting for a new knee, which, if it's successful will see me become a member/season ticket holder or whatever. I drag my stepson there if possible when he visits from Manchester. His dad tried to get him to support Man Utd, but he prefers Hull City.

I don't get the foreign is better bit. Plenty of good players here in the UK who don't get a change on the big stage.

I'm half and half, Ive a membership paid monthly but haven't been to a game yet. This is because of medical reasons and not feeling safe in large crowds yet.
