There's an Indian restaurant in Amble which is absolutely amazing. There's also a cracking sea food restaurant too.
And to think I started to read this at 3 am. What you have now put I essentially agree with but with the caveat that Putin should not be allowed anything "extra" to make it clear that use of aggression gains the aggressor nothing.
Depends what you mean by extra. A good way of approaching it from our side would be to be positive and say ok we will withdraw all military installations, bio labs etc from your borders. Ukraine will not join NATO now or anytime in the future. Give him firm written commitments, signed treaties. Surely NATO and the international community are losing nothing at all and neither is Ukraine. This is given on the basis that you withdraw from Ukraine immediately, the borders return to exactly where they were previous to arms being taken up. You make a firm written commitment to not again invade a surrounding or any other country provided we abide by these rules. You also agree to contribute to a global fund equally with the international community to rebuild Ukraine and reimburse their peoples as best we can. Call his bluff, stop the silent aggression we are guilty of and make a peaceful gesture with better future for all in mind. The tedious ****s won’t yield though will they. They’ll do a treaty which stops the fighting but allows them all to carry on with their ****ty behaviours which we all pay for.
Just for balance... BBC reporting that not all protests in Europe are pro-Ukranian. A pro-Russian rally took place in Belgrade, Serbia last night in support of Russia's military action
So... Russia gets to go back to exactly as it was before the conflict. NATO gets to go back to exactly as it was before the conflict Ukraine gets punished for being invaded by telling it that it cannot decide for itself what it's own foreign relations will look like and that it cannot enter into treaties to support its borders. I am not particularly a fan of NATO, but it should be up to the democratically elected government of Ukraine whether or not they apply to join NATO. If they do apply then it is up to the other NATO countries whether they allow them entry or not. There was already a firm written commitment from Russia to never invade Ukraine in place when they invaded Crimea, when they sent troops into the far eastern areas of Ukraine and when they launched a full scale invasion 9 days ago. Why should western European countries be allowed that protection but Ukraine isn't? We are not better or more deserving than them and I think it is arrogant to suggest that we should impose restrictions on them because we know what is best for them better than they do. The same would apply if a country bordering the EU/NATO decided it wanted to enter into a pact with Russia - as Belarus has done. We should have no say on whether they can do that or not. It is up to them and them alone.
Wasn’t it some Serbs who did a bit of ethnic cleansing and murder of women and kids back in the 90’s? If so… birds of a feather..
Yeah, looks like it was a rally organised by far right groups, protesting the Serbian government imposing sanctions on Russia and Belarus.
I once bumped into an ex Serb soldier in a random bar in Split. He was mental. Not a fan of the West and said he had to burn civilian bodies in woods and ****. He’d been completely brainwashed.
That has just sent my internal snowflake app into self-destruct mode. I hare racists but like to support minorities. Cannot compute! Cannot compute!
Here’s a thought.. Putin says he will kick off of Finland or the baltics join NATO. Why don’t the EU nato members pull out of NATO… then the EU as a bloc passes a resolution for all members to automatically be nato members and join collectively?
