Ignoring how we’ve ended up at this point and ignoring Russia’s and others world wide misgivings about how the West operates is ignorant and silly. We will never progress while we maintain that status quo. Hence this **** is still happening all over the world. The UK and US have none too distant history of invading countries illegally too. Were the US and USSR really going to nuke each other in the Cold War? No and it was felt in the end that positioning strategically placed military bases and other needless ventures on each other’s doorstep was aggressive, not required and bad for global relations. So they both stepped back from doing so. Perhaps it would be sensible to disband NATO, create a global body on security and give the major players equal rights. Instead of us and them, just have an us. Humans. Maybe these world leaders should invest less on defence and more on feeding all their people or other more worthy causes.
