Womens rugby is even worse than football. I lasted about ten minutes (no smut please). Womens football is nothing like mens it's a joke. Never watched the cricket but they are ok at hockey. Half horse half men javelin and shot putters are quite........ Big and hairy. Can't stand that alex whats her name either. The one that took over sat lunchtimes. Rattling on about equality and then turns up on panel with her skirt up her arse looking like a trollope.
In fairness the article did take it out of context, she was shown a picture of Marsch putting an arm around Kalvin and speaking to him. Her words were along the lines of it being good to see as you “would have understood if he was sulking about the sacking”. Carney should have used the word “upset” bad choice to use sulking but she didn’t actually say he was.
Well lets hopeJM has got things set up for tomoz early lunchtime KO. Will be good to see his first team selection and the way he sets up. Will always love Bielsa and will forever be greatful, but as many have said, the king is dead long live the king
One thing JM didnt mention yesterday when talking about Leicester was Patson Daka who took over from Haaland RBS so will probably help Rogers in setting up against us?
Saw that vid of JM at the benefit gig last night(?) saying in response to a question that he'd be happy for the fans to chant Bielsa's name at the Leicester and Villa games, as he understood the history of what Bielsa had achieved and the passion of the fans. Got a big round of applause.
Great Weekend Debate as always Doc and it's brilliant to have it back Have just been remembering how crazy madman Cellino used to say coaches are like watermelons and in some respects he was right. If Heckingbottom hadn't come in and stunk the place out then the Bielsa era would never have happened. Now Heckingbottom is doing reasonably well at Sheff Utd and has got his career back on track. It seems only the very highest elite managers are successful everywhere they go and even that is debatable. So our new coach Jesse Marsch is going to need a favourable start and whether that's players not making stupid errors/decisions, an own goal or VAR not ruining all his efforts he'll definitely also require that unfathomable thing in life when moments/events just go the right way because they do.
The club have a lot of wingers because Bielsa insists on attacking down the flanks. Marsch prefers “half wingers” which are attacking midfielders who can use pace on the flanks but bring the ball inside and be more direct instead of pretty patterns on the wings. This season we have been very bad with crosses/passes from wing to middle, hence our poor performance in front of goal. Raphinha has scored 8 and a couple of assists, Harrison has scored half a dozen but missed too many crosses to open players, James has scored 3 or 4 but again not too many assists. So will our wingers be used differently for example use Raphinha as a 9 or 10. Will Rodrigo be a half winger as he was in Spain, will Summerville find a role. Is Klich fast enough to do that role or are James and Harrison clever enough. Remember Arronson was RBS half winger and a tough tackling all action player. We know Dallas can play that role, so will be good to see what happens
That struck me under MB too - our wingers need to cut in more, and to have more options in the centre to actually pass to when they get swamped/blocked, like Raph usually is. That lack of a midfield (and Bamford) are IMHO, what has cost us goals - that and an inability to shoot straight. Maybe we'll see Rodrigo come into his own.
Always struck me as funny as we signed Spains No9 and Spain are one of the best sides in world football. We know Rodrigo is an out to in striker who plays as a half winger/10 bringing in others to score. Bielsa thought Rodrigo could play as a 10 but in fairness hardly ever worked as he needs better players with him. Klich in and out, Dallas playing in other positions, Harrison running into dead ends etc. so not worked and maybe should have played upfront instead of Roberts and James. £27m wasted on the bench or out of position but Bielsa wouldnt change it. It means plenty of fans see Rodrigo as a waste of money
