Good Morning. It's Friday 4th March, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Marsch impresses during first Pre Match Presser During his first Pre Match Press Conference, Jesse Marsch outlined his visions for Leeds Utd, gave a frank and honest assessment of the exciting times ahead. He shared his plans for a balanced starting XI, with a less ridged formation, concentrating more on zonal marking. Marsch handled the media very well, and looked totally in control of the situation in hand. Refreshingly, he remarked that he didn't want to give too much away, which is great to hear. Many believed Bielsa used to release too much information but, by keeping your opponents guessing, could give you a tactical advantage! please log in to view this image There was no mutiny at Elland Road During his latest podcast, Leeds Utd journalist Phil Hay has insisted that there was no mutiny at Elland Road, as far as Marcelo Bielsa was concerned. He does however point out that the feelings around Elland Road were that the tactics weren't working, and the players were feeling the pressure, having conceded fourteen goals in the previous three games. Fellow journalist Dean Jones has already revealed that a group of players had pleaded with Bielsa to alter the tactics, but the Argentine refused point-blank. According to Hay:- “It doesn’t seem to me there’s any sense in making a change of this nature if you still feel the players are very much with it, especially with 12 games to go,” “It’s going to be a challenge for Marsch to change a great deal particularly quickly. “It’s not to say he can’t change plenty because there are still two or three months of the season to go. It’s not as if it ends in three weeks’ time and they desperately need results right here and now. But they do need results quickly. “And I think if the feeling had been that it was working and the players were still 100 per cent, the players were still with it physically and people have said to me that the running stats are still as good as they’ve ever been. “There was no mutiny for Bielsa at all but the players were feeling the pressure that the tactical approach wasn’t working and it was leading to four goals conceded against Man United, six away at Liverpool, four at home to Spurs and the doubts that creep in about whether it’s going to turn around.” please log in to view this image Phillips is sulking Karen Carney has publicly stated that Kalvin Phillips is sulking following the dismissal of Marcelo Bielsa. The Sky / BT Sports presenter also remarked that Bielsa showed faith in Phillips, when nobody else did. “You’ve got to be gutted. I saw Marsch was hugging him but you have to do that. “I can understand why Phillips would’ve been sulking as Bielsa showed faith in him when nobody did.” Carney, 34, is no stranger to controversy where Leeds fans are concerned. In December 2020, during a post match Interview on BT Sports, she suggested that the COVID-19 pandemic helped Leeds United secure promotion. When Radrizzani mocked her on social media, the Women in Football network described Leeds' tweet as "inciteful and inappropriate". In 2014, she received a one match domestic ban for telling Bristol's Natalia Pablos Sanchon to 'f*** off back to Spain! Carney went on to receive a further 35 caps for England, and cement a career in sports broadcasting at its highest level, even after this racist remark! please log in to view this image
Morning all I don’t like Carney but her comments were taken out of context. Responding to a picture of Marsch with an arm around Kalvin she replied it’s good to see, you’ve got to do that as a coach because you would “understand IF Phillips was sulking after the sacking of the man who showed belief in him” or words very near to that effect. The press used a ****ty headline saying she said he was sulking to stir up Leeds fans so they can hit us again when she next receives abuse. I’m sure she was also replying to a question so you need to hear the full conversation to see it wasn’t as bad as the headline makes out
For the record virtually all teams now play a zonal pressing game. Even Boreham Wood (last night) had 7 players high in the Everton half all on the right side in an attempt to press. It's also more commonly known as the U6,7,8 & 9's swarm tactic. Morning all by the way
She is a clueless **** IMO and you'd think she'd have learn't from her last comments. I turn off when the women are on because we all know they are mainly there because of the box ticking that goes on now. She did use the word sulk where as she could have used a better word to get her point across. As fot the tweet, how the **** would that upset her. Snowflake.
Good Morning from a cold Bardsey' I think that I have caught covid from Moeand so my Daughter has gone for me a testing kit.Still it could be worse .Moe is in bed trying to get her strength backOnthe Ukraine frontI believe that Roman has said that he will donate £BN to Ukraine I beleve him as much as his mate Putin who said he would not invade the Ukraine and then said yesterday everything as going to plan
I like the cut of his jib: The former RB Leipzig boss recognises that there is scepticism around American head coaches in English football, saying "I think there probably is a stigma", before joking that "I'm not sure Ted Lasso helped! I get it. People hate using the word soccer but I've used the word football since I was a professional player".
The Phil Hay stuff was recorded Wednesday and before Thursdays presser, so his observations and thoughts are off by a mile. In fairness he usually does the podcast on Thursday and attends the presser, but this week was a waste of time
