Its a moot point anyway as a straight fight between UK and Russia would never happen. We are part of NATO for a reason. The most interesting figure in the article DPP quoted on the comparison between the two countries was the annual defence spending: Russia spent $41billion UK spent $68 billion With the difference in the sizes of the respective forces its hard to see how Russia can keep it’s forces properly equipped and maintained on that number, particularly when people complain that UK forces are not well equipped due to lack of budget. But the figure that really put the whole thing into context was annual American defence expenditure at $750 billion. Putin’s only possible target was Ukraine, as he knew NATO would not get involved. However he underestimated the extent to which Ukraine would choose to defend itself and the sanctions that would be imposed. He will eventually overrun Ukraine but the cost of trying to keep it under his control and the effect of the sanctions at home will have seriously weakened his position. If his goal was to try and put the FSU back together he now knows there is no way he can achieve that. Think this may be the final straw: An international cat federation has said it's banning all Russian cats from entering its competitions. In a statement on its website the Fédération Internationale Féline said it was "horrified" by Russia's invasion of Ukraine and had subsequently decided to disallow Russian cats from competing in its competitions, which take place around the world. As well as this, it said that no cats bred in Russia would be allowed to be registered with its organisation outside of Russia. The rules will be in place until the end of May, when they will be reviewed. It added that it would dedicate a part of its budget to support cat breeders in Ukraine who are suffering because of the current situation.
