It's called the champions league and these clubs are already on a suspended sentence so I fully expect that if any actually put their heads up it'll be shot off.
They best not. Not totally forgotten the last attempt yet, they've certainly not repaired the wounds yet.
Because we already have a Champion's League - how is a Super League going to be an improvement? It's just a power grab by the likes of Real and Barca to try and make up their own rules and stave off their impending doom.
From what Jimmy's posted, the new idea is an actual twenty team league. So that's 38 PL games + 38 European games + two domestic cup matches = 78 games bare minimum each season if qualified. Obviously, there could be more domestic cup games too depending on progression. Let's not forget your favourite too; international games. #ridiculous
@Zanjinho This is how the CL will look soon ... This is arguably worse than the Super League ... please log in to view this image
Going by the initial proposals, the Super League were going to pump more money into the football pyramid and introduce a salary cap ... and it wouldn't be a closed shop, which was the major sticking point. The PL was a breakaway in itself as well ... It would help break the monopoly currently held by UEFA, who as we all know, are corrupt and a bunch of crooks - especially when you look at how they allocate tickets at major finals to all of their pals and sponsors ...
The irony is that UEFA are literally proposing a similar format as the ESL - however the difference is, it's UEFA who will be getting the money and not the clubs. Teams playing more games. UEFA making more money.
I don't give a **** about UEFA getting shoved out. I don't think more games is the way to go, who is actually in control and what's stopping them making more changes in the future once the controlling body (UEFA) is out if the equation? There could be another aspect to UEFA not being involved, the club versus country argument to escalate seeing players having to choose which they play for; like in rugby and cricket etc
Good question ... but I believe it's the club themselves that help to govern the game. And not a corrupt organisation who have people who work there who literally got done for accepting bribes etc. My assumption is that clubs would have to choose between playing in the CL and ESL - so there wouldn't be extra games ... ? It's all a mess really.
Most clubs are run by rich greedy billionaires, it's just corruption from a different angle A league of 18-20 teams but only play ten matches is dodgy as **** too. Guarantee its seeded to protect the top clubs, no exclusion my arse.
Well, idiots voted through the new CL changes which will involve 36 teams and the 10 games each club has to be played based on an algorithm ... All of these changes were voted through during the saga surrounding the ESL ... seems like nobody noticed
Uefa may be corrupt but the owners of half of the big clubs are hardly squeaky clean - who would want them making up the rules as they go along? I don't fancy the owners of Barca or City etc dictating terms any more than the mob we have atm. Also, I must be missing something from that CL format you posted - 36 teams in one big league but each team plays 5h and 5a? Maths was never my strong point but... All of this stuff is just to make more money from more games - football is no more than a "product" to them.
That new CL format looks horrendous. The game is being taken further and further away from the fans. It's a pity there is no fan body that consists of fans from all PL clubs which could collectively oppose all these new ideas. Send a clear message - mess with our game and we won't turn up. We've seen what the game looks like in empty stadiums. With regard to the Super League idea, Liverpool now has a fan presence on the board for when proposals like this are put forward which should mean we won't be joining any other league.
Lol exactly. Makes no sense whatsoever. I believe it will be based on some 'algorithm'. As you say, UEFA are just simply adding more games to the calendar and they're the ones who will benefit from it.
Fixture pile up for Liverpool. Liverpool in the last eight of FA Cup while Manchester United are not.
