Not really anything to do with what has happened with our club. I have expressed a few times what an impressive job the City owners have done and how their business model has grown the club as an asset to the point where they could sell it now and be comfortably in the black. To have done that while winning all those trophies is a phenomenal performance.

The big clubs get massive cash injections from lucrative sponsorship deals - what is the difference?

I have no problem evening up the playing field, but if you do that you have to do it properly, by making all clubs operate on the same budget. FFP just benefits the big clubs and stops the smaller clubs breaking into the elite.

No ... more the advantage that continually being able to buy the best players and pay the highest wages eclipses everything you mention in terms of probability of success measured in titles and trophies... hence why Citeh and Chelsea have become the most successful clubs both in their own cities and in terms of domestic trophy hauls over the last decade ... that kind of advantage ... just a fact supported by silverware .. <cheers>

Take City and Chelsea out of it, like I said in my follow up. It's obvious those two were given the money.

Not for the last forty years though, which is what you said. So, you're saying the likes if United, Liverpool and Arsenal have been 'given' money for the last forty years to be able to generate success? Someone just decide that they would be 'big' clubs, and handed them the cash to facilitate this.

    Because that's utter bollocks.

The reason Leicester didn't have these resources is that they are sited in a smaller city, with fewers supporters and, to be honest, weren't very good, so they didn't generate them.

But, but it's not fair <wah>

Some excellent points buddy ... I see Formula One has now put a cap on engine development spend, which should, in theory at least, help bring the performance of the cars closer together and make the sport more exciting than the procession that was beginning to make it about as exciting as synchronized swimming with cars (I'm not a big F1 fan as you might have guessed <laugh>) ...

With regard to sponsorship deals, you can’t really impose what commercial deals are done with individual clubs. That’s free market capitalism at work. And the bigger deals will always go to the bigger clubs as they have more reach for their sponsors

But you can stop clubs like City offsetting their massive overspending and attempts to circumvent FFP, by trying to claim that the money was for youth development and training facilities. And stop sponsorship deals like Etihad that are state owned and basically linked to the ownership of the club

You could also ensure that any money that comes in via TV contracts is distributed more equitably. That’s something that the FA could oversee, rather than it being the behest of individual clubs and sponsors

Whilst I agree that clubs like City and Chelsea are now at a point where they are commercially viable. (Especially as Roman is going to wipe out Chelsea’s debt to him). They are only in that position exactly because of the huge financial doping they received.

You might not ever be able to create a completely level playing field in terms of finances. And indeed successful clubs should be able to negotiate lucrative contracts with commercial partners. But there is still a lot more the game could do to ensure that the gap between the haves and the have nots is narrowed.

    Just kidding mate.

I still remember watching Chelsea knocking Arsenal out of the CL for like the first time ever. Was it under Ranieri and before Roman? Can't remember. I actually wanted you to win that time <laugh>

The plastics in Asia supporting Chelsea will just switch to following the Toon once the big names start going there.

They got no probs switching allegiances…some Asian fans just follow a single player supporting the club he plays for

their a strange bunch sometimes with that

Cry me a river <laugh>... we've been far more successful than your bunch over the last decade, despite the odds ... you've had them heavily stacked in your favour (even more than just financially if you take your definition of advantage) yet you are still light years away from Citeh, Pool and Chelsea, not just in terms of trophies, but in the style and attractiveness of the football being played ...

Indeed mate ... I was rooting for you lot in the 1970 cup final against dirty Leeds ... likes of Charlie Cooke,Peter Osgood and Peter Bonetti were cracking players ... and you were a very attractive team to watch ...

... might also have had something to do with Leeds having signed Allan 'sniffer' Clarke who jumped ship from us after we lost the '69 final to Citeh and got relegated, mind <whistle>

You seem confused between crying and laughing ... let me assure you there is nowt funnier to me than watching Pool and United fans bleating about the unfairness of Chelsea and Citeh buying success ... the irony is a thing of rare beauty <laugh>

Except you're doing it for the reasons Chief outlined hence proving his point.

Don't get me wrong, I don't really give a fck which sugar daddy takes over which club. But the reality is that there are clubs out there who have built considerably more success off their own back.

    Which I haven't done.

By the way, in the last decade we've won the league, the FA cup, the europa league and the league cup.

I'm not counting charridy shields, which you no doubt are, but you're a long way from being 'way more' succesful than us.

    Ever.

You are quite right ... thanks for the compliments ... winning the title with a squad that costs a quarter of what you paid for Harry Maguire is a prime example ... cheers mate... appreciate the support <laugh> <cheers>

Please don't cry .. you still have the memories... and the fact that you've been the third best team in the North West for how many years now? ... is just a minor inconvenience <laugh>
