    Their results are expunged, so we don’t get three points for that, the other teams lose 3 or six points if they beat them.

    I could see lawyers sharpening pencils.... imagine you beat Derby twice and were in the play off positions, then someone 'like City' had lost to them twice and finished 4 points say outside the play off places...

    It's happened before and presumably is written into the league membership rules, so you would hope there is little room for claim.

    Derby County are facing the prospect of another heavy points deduction next season, as the club's administrators prepare to finally name a preferred bidder.

    Quantuma, the administrators, have set a deadline of Friday 25th March for takeover offers to be submitted, with three parties understood to be in contention.

    However, it is feared that all the bids will not comply with the Football League's insolvency policy regulations, which is expected to trigger further punishment ahead of next season.

    If Derby's takeover does not meet the key EFL requirement, of paying unsecured creditors 25p in a pound, the stricken Championship club risks being hit with another hefty points deduction - which could be up to 15 - next season.
