Can only echo what others have said about how we have to go full strength or as close as we can. Rest a few on Saturday if needed. Surely we want this more than West Ham with their other commitments? Be a huge shame to throw away that opportunity.
We surely can't compromise a shot at real silverware (and Europe) for the sake of a few million £££ in PL place prizes...Come on Saints do the right thing.
There have been years where you absolutely take the money, given that we needed every red cent we could get our hands on. That's not true this season, and realistically the impact on our league position isn't likely to be massive...maybe +/- 1-2 places at most. Might as well have a go.
Th Coventry game started with Walcott, Long, Small, Stephens, Lyanco, Valery plating 3-4-3 6 players who’d not really played together in a formation no one understood with a raw debutant Your suggestion just involves 4 changes for players that are all first team and AA, so not awful but a risk that we've lost before the subs get on EDIT: You’ve said this now. I’m catching up
Happy to start with Willy, Stephens, Perraud, Redders, A.Armstrong I’ll understand if he starts with Diallo for Oriel but it’s a risk Broja, Stu & Shane gives us an impactful bench
I do have faith in Ralph putting out a strong team even if he does make changes. I think Spurs getting knocked out may persuade him to go strong. I reckon: Willy Tino Stephens Salisu Perraud JWP Romeu Redmond Djenepo Broja/Che A. Armstrong
I would prefer our strongest available 11 to start, but it’s worth bearing in mind that the board will have conveyed to Ralph what they think we should be prioritising.
The thing is that we can still get a result at Villa with a slightly weakened team, we have less chance of doing so against the Spammers and a draw at VP wouldn't be a bad result but losing tonight would be a missed opportunity IMO. IF they care about the fans wishes then it's a no brainer.
I've just realised that I have totally blocked out MLT subconsciously. He didn't even come to my mind when trying to pick my favourite/best players from the last 30-40 years. Proves that if you turn out to be a prat, you get quickly forgotten. Anyway. MATCHDAY!!!!!
I don’t know what the prize money is by position in the league, but if I have found the right figures the winner of the FA Cup accrues just over £3.4 million in winning payments, assuming the winning club starts in the 3rd Round Proper, which they will have. I would think £3.4m would go some way towards covering the drop of 1 or 2 league places. Figures by round are 3rd £82k 4th £90k 5th £180k QF £360k SF £900k F £1.8m
