Yes and no. I don't really have a strong opinion on Biden. I do think the "Biden is weak" is just Trumpist propoganda that has been dispersed. Ive seen nothing to suggest Biden is particularly weak or strong... He has put out a mediocre response, neither dismissive nor particularly aggressive. I do have a strong opinion on Trump though. Overall though I don't think any American President would have made much difference in this case no matter what rhetoric they took. Putin cares about legacy and restoring Russia's perch... It matters zip who is president. Trump, Biden, Reagan, Roosevelt, Washington... Doesn't matter, none of them would have stopped Putin because Putin was determined and none would have risked war for America over Ukraine. This war isn't about America no matter how Putin defended it. It's about Russia.
It's not really a matter of taking sides, puttin is a prick. Desperate to move back towards the ussr, have his name written into folk law as the great Russian leader. He lives in his own little fantasy land where he wrestles bears and fights dragons. The only difference between what he's done and the good old US of A is he's attacked a country of white people directly. The US do it under some guise or excuse, oh and make sure they are a brownish colour, it's not so bad then. Rich people making descions that kill normal people, with zero regard. Doesn't matter what nationality they are.

There's a certain demographic in the States (here too) that are easily led by the kind of nationalistic rhetoric he comes out with and they can't see beyond the MAGA nonsense. They are easily manipulated by that sort of appeal to their superiority. There is also the partisan element - there are people who would vote for Genghis Khan if he was in their party.

Trump just presses buttons. He is not able to grow support, trust try depress the other sides vote. He has the Christian Hispanics eating out of his hand by saying communist and socialist about Democrats (gobshites) He has red necks eating out if his hands saying dirty Mexicans coming to rape and murder you. He has the wasps evangelicals eating out if his hand on abortions while carrying on doing all sorts to women. It's the most crass scummy populist stuff. All the while sitting and forcing every us event to use a trump hotel etc and propping up his little hotel business which is of course also illegal
I do think the rest of the world knows America is yesterday's power. America just doesn't know it yet. Russia needs to stay relevant. China is overtaking everything and everyone and will continue to do so in the next decades. The problem with America is if you drive round anywhere there's huge rot in the middle lands and the roads are all falling apart, lots of poor etc but you'll only hear arrogant laughing out other countries. I think fox made a crass comment about Kiev not being a total **** hope in a backhanded compliment about being semi civilised. It's this arrogance that's got most yank cities being half slums tbh.

I agree with all of this. You're right about partisanship but from what I'm seeing and reading, unlike here where people are staunch in their political affiliations, in the US, at the moment at least, people are having huge voter regret over voting for Biden and many are switching sides. Biden's approval rating is tanking and some are forecasting a Trump re-election now that he's hinted that he will run in 2024. It's actually baffling to me. I can understand the disillusionment with the current administration but not the desire to have Trump back. The Republican party, yes, because there's no alternative but there are far more qualified candidates to lead the party and yet Trump is drawing huge crowds wherever he goes. It's bizarre.
I reckon china's growing influence has a fair amount of sway on Russian thinking, China is the the next big boy, if they arnt already, putin may well be thinking about standing up to them rather than America which looks more ****ed as the years go by.
I've had look jb and I can't find anything that says trump is growing in popularity, more that he has recovered from the dip after the capital hill fiasco.
He spoke at the CPAC conference last week and got 59% of the vote (only a straw poll). It's an early measure of popularity for presidential hopefuls and it's 4% higher than last time. He got the biggest ovation of the conference too.
Didn't he get 70% when he was voted in to run as the representative, I've only scanned quickly over it but the other front runner is doing well. I'm not sure these polls are anything to base much of an opinion on.

For now putin wants a buffer zone between his Russian sets and the eu/rich west. He is furious that there's enriched Estonians on his border etc. Ukraine, Belarus etc are his soviet era buffer. But this buffoon doesn't realise that he can't control this. He has failed to. No matter what suffer of oppressed soviet serfs he can create with the obsolete crap he is trundling about the youth of his country can see all the benefits of freedom and riches and have zero interest in his old world cold War bullshit. China is the latter 21st century battle that is to come. Putin is a vestige of the past screaming against the loss of power in his own country.
