    That's bad..
But so is taking democracy away to form a dictatorship, open government sponsored antisemitism. Throwing gays in jail for being gay. Killing citizens who criticize the government, etc.

It already is a puppet government <doh>

The democratically elected goverment of 8 yrs ago was overthrown in a coup with the US at the helm.

That could be said about the previous administration, but Ukraine had fair and full elections in 2019.

Perhaps, but that's not the same as a puppet government.

I see the russians are still exercising "restraint"

I honestly think people have no concept of what could be going on right now compared to what is.

people need to wake up that this is day 5 and pretty damned soon food's going to run out in the cities.

edit: you know what boils my piss.... ****heads posting rescue workers in a building hit by a missile. if i were a russian i'd wait for the right image and hit the place again to maximise impact and casualties.

you'd think people would have half a brain wouldn't you while poor paramedics etc are risking their lives.

But I thought Russia said they're only.goimg after civilian targets...

Ukraine could be rubble by now and the electronic infrastructure completely fried. Putin thought he could win this easily (and perhaps he could have without all the logistical support from the west). The more resistance the more death and damage.

Two outcomes. 1) Putin disposed from within. 2) Russia wins. 1 is probably not likely.

Makes you wonder if supporting Ukraine is right thing to do. They're going to lose anyway and any support just leads to more deaths on both sides. On the flipside, the more support we give Ukraine, the more difficult it is for Russia... The less likely they are to take on someone else next that NATO may give funding and arms to.

Got to admit that I have very little knowledge of the history between Russia and Ukraine. Are reports that Putin is taking advantage of a very weak US president wide of the mark? He didn't try it when Trump 'if you start a war we'll flatten Moscow' was in office.

not really as they have been discussing this for years but the recent references by NATO of possibly siting Nukes in the Ukraine looks like it may have tipped the balance .
btw Trump was president when Russia seized the Crimea

classic chamberlain appeasement statement. Let Russia have Ukraine and they will be over the next border in a month and tanks would be on the Estonian border in 3 months time demanding the russian speaking areas there too despite their eu and nato status

An uncaring Churchill might say; let them be bled out in Ukraine. Its no skin off our nose here in Uk. the more poland and the like sends arms and stuff and the more russia get hurt the better.

The third outcome you are missing is win, lose or draw the longer this goes on the more in the toilet russia's economy becomes and the better for the yanks.

Finally if i were poland etc i'd be thinking a bomb under putins 100mil yacht that he mysteriously moved form a refit in a european port to the still held russian sub state zone to the north of poland would be no harm and how knows a cruise missile into his black sea massive mansion would be no harm either. Both would be personally embarrassing to putin.

    well thats bull anyway.

    that trump right wing propaganda.

People not mentioning that trump held Ukraine to ransom and refused to allow any weapons sales over his election attempts to smear biden to you?

In case you missed it this had been going on since 2014. ukraine's crimea as annexed by russia under obama's time and trump did sweet fa to stop any of the russia efforts around the two separatist areas all through his presidency.

Trump wouldn't flatten a pancakes mate. he's a snivelling coward who hid in the dungeon in the white house when there was a small protest outside. The same coward used riot police to clear civilian protesters away from a church so he could get a pic and the same coward said he'd be down outside capitol with his supporters and was nowhere and hid while they rioted and stormed the building.

Bidne is useless but trump was actively worse and as bad if not worse than Bolsonaro in brazil who coincidentally is patting putin on the back. A far right fascist patting the supposed communist on the back LOL.

The Nord stream pipeline is a major part of this conflict aswell...........It runs from Russia to Germany and is just completed and ready for use.
Europe is obviously dependant in part on this liquid gas (currently 40% of Europes LNG comes from Russia)
But the US have stopped this deal in its tracks because they want their own liquid gas on the European market, even though it is more expensive.

yeah i'm sure they can get Nuclear Power plants up and running in a couple of days . Plus i think that actually we are a bit more dependent on Russian gas than is often made out as it doesn't include electricity which we receive from Europe via a link from France which may well have been produced using their gas .
