It'll be interesting how the mood is for our new managers debut at ER and the reaction of the crowd. I feel though, if the players suddenly start playing out of their skin again, that they'll have let MB down.
In my humble opinion, it wasn't the effort from the players that was at fault, it was the system that was killing them. Having said that, we did create and miss some decent chances but we were left exposed far too often.
I’ve always felt MB was a world great coach, bringing the best out of an average player but maybe his man management skills were not what they could have been. I’ve little doubt he’d lost a few of them in the dressing room but the bottom line was that’s down to his handling. His way of dealing with anyone who questioned him was “ship them out” or “drop them”. It’s modern day football mate, some of the continental players don’t respond well to the quiet treatment or being shunned. I’m not knocking Bielsa, I wish it could have ended differently but his dogmatic approach was in the end his downfall. I’ll always love and respect him, he is a true great but it’s time to stabilise and then move forward. He wouldn’t have stuck around once the 49ers took control, this new guy had 6 approaches for jobs, he turned them down as he was waiting for this job to come in June. After seeing the events unfold on Sunday if I could have changed it I’d have let my heart rule my head, I’d have kept him until his contract was up but I’m a Leeds fan, Radz and the 49ers are not, they follow business models, we knew that and accepted it on day one.
The system wasn't killing them when things were all rosy for them. The players aren't solely to blame, I appreciate that Bielsa's stubborness contributed to it as well.
I'm a Leeds Utd fan as well, just because I'm supporting our former manager does not mean I'm putting him above our club. I'll be backing the new man and I'll be giving him a chance, but as stated by some Austrian football pundit on Sky this morning, our new man has never been in this relegation situation before. Personally I think it's a gamble and my thought was that maybe Bielsa could have got us enough points to save us.
I never thought for a moment you were putting him above the club mate. Bielsa had zero experience when he joined (of English football, the PL or relegation dog fight). If the board had brought in a coach with experience of avoiding relegation I’d have been distraught as in fairness you’d be looking at a Warnock or big Sam type coach
Mike Riley the Premier ref chief(cheat) actually aplogised to Everton for the bad decision. We should have complained regarding the push on Klich.
