Yeah, he's been iconic and has stayed far longer than at any other club. He lived above a sweet shop in the city and mingled freely with the fans. I think he's and a great run and of course the fans loved him. Rightly so.
I feel it was the defensive capitulation. He has had players like Forshaw running in circles in the middle while Stuyk follows Kane back to his own 18 yd box. Its been really quite odd and 20 goals conceded in 5 games is inexcusable.
Perhaps insinuating rather than suggesting is a better way of putting it : ) What's your take on the offside in the buildup to the handball Tom. Can a player in an offside position who doesn't touch the ball cancel out a penalty offence?
Many fans would say that losing 9-0 twice is inexcusable. Our board holding their nerve isn't looking too bad now.
There's a big difference though in that we always looked like a team in development and had some further extenuating circumstances (IMO). Leeds have simply looked awful and although i singled out the last 5 games the defensive issues have been season long and its the fact that they have got worse and remained unaddressed that looks REALLY bad. I've watched a few of their games and it looks like the belief has just evaporated this season. They have looked like a good sunday league team at times with players doing what they thought they should be rather than operating as a team.
Who are the young talent that he hasn’t used? Anyone worth looking at? We are approaching the phase where i wonder if any of the relegated clubs have players worth signing. But as Liverpool have shown the ones that really are skip over clubs like ours For example if Brentford go down I expect Toney goes to Arsenal or West Ham.
The two that have looked good to me have been Gelhardt and Shackleton. They've had minutes this season but he has done a couple of odd things like putting them on and then pulling them when they've looked like one of the best on the field.
Is Toney still the hot property that he was last summer? He's done okay this season, but he's been outscored by the likes of Dennis (Watford) and even our very own Che.
Sarr, McNeil and Pope off the top of my head from the current bottom 3 Nobody really from Brentford jumps out to me, the only ones from Everton would be Richarlison and DCL but we wouldn’t get either of those even if they did go down. Leeds, again would be the unattainable ones I’d be interested in, Raphinha and Phillips. Don’t know enough about the youngsters at any of the clubs, the Leeds fans I know talk highly about Cresswell and Gelhardt but haven’t seen much of them myself
Sargent from Norwich interests me. Obviously Sarr from Watford, Joao Pedro as well maybe. If Burnley go down McNeil possibly but then he's a winger and we don't really play with wingers. And he'd have a lot of suitors. If Leeds went down I'd go for Meslier.
Don’t see the hype about Meslier personally. He’s very young for a keeper but that’s about it, not seen him show much in the games I’ve seen. I think it is just assumed that he will get better and better as he is so young, reminds me of Gunn in a way when we had him
I think he's a good shot stopper personally and can play out from the back. He's suffered from having a disaster of a defence in front of him and Bielsa's tactics have left him horribly exposed.
I'd be very surprised if Burnley go down, it's looking like Narch, Watford and Brentford to me but can't rule out Leeds or even possibly Everton
Of that list, I would say that Burnely and Brentford look least likelyto get relegated. I think Burnley only ever seem to start their season in March and will pull clear. I like Brentford and hope that they can scramble a few more results. I believe that the proposed new coach at Leeds is American and was trying to think of the name of the previous American coach and the team he managed so disastrously a few seasons ago. I regret to say that I would get a lot of pleasure from seeing an American coach getting Leeds relegated - no so much that I want to see the back of Leeds but more so that it would underscore my biased perception that the Yanks know nothing about football. Whatever happened to Roy Wegerle?
Are you mixing up your fondness for Brentford and their chances of survival? Because your reasoning for why they might survive didn’t contain anything to support the assertion. I’d like them to survive too I’m just not sure. They are on a terrible run and their manager seems to stick his head in the sand a lot. But by all account Eriksen was impressive and might make the difference Did Bruce Arena manage in the premier league? I want to say Swansea? I don’t see how a new manager can turn things around quickly enough for Leeds. They will surely be wedded to a style of play
