With the exception of the Blackpool game, it doesn't seem like the substitutions we've made in recent games have had the desired effect that we'd have wanted. We've got decent options on the bench for when we want to inject a bit more energy into the press, but they seem best deployed when we're holding a lead (or a point), rather than chasing one. With the exception of the Derby game earlier in the season, Gray has failed to make much of a difference when he's come on, and as the only attacking option on the bench on Saturday, is it now time to give Sinclair Armstrong or someone else a few minutes? Just a thought... but I know a lot of teams now have coaches who focus specifically on set-pieces for example, but is there room in the modern game for a substitute coach? Someone who could prepare the substitutes physically, mentally and tactically before they come on, rather than the quick talk they tend to have by the side of the pitch before they enter the field of play? Some players seem to be caught by surprise when they're called into action, almost as if they were expecting to spectate for the full game.
I suspect Warburton is definitely rattled and is making a lot of poor calls. In another post match interview he talked about nothing other than the amount of fixtures. The bloke is obsessed and he really ought to concentrate more on playing everyone in their correct positions at least.
Possibly could be that he and Willock can't play together or don't like playing together. Mind you, they played well together earlier in the season.
Yes.They did play well together. Main reason for playing Chair and that he scores every now and then. I'd like to see that midfield 3 Field Johansen and Hendrick again, but it only leaves room for Willock and a striker in front of them, plus the 2 WB's at times. So it's a bit of a toss up between Johansen and Chair for me, possibly Amos. Dependent on how they are looking in training and how Cardiff play these days.
Maybe Chair is jealous of how well Willock played in his absence? Or maybe they are both still carrying a knock
