Ah that's poor form from those involved. No need to apologise at all. As HDQ notes, plenty of positive comments beneath the vid thankfully.

The worst thing I have found having flicked through all 650 comments on his Youtube...

"This is complete rubbish, they bought the area behind the stadium over a year ago to redevelop St James’s park"

Which is not true and the lad tells him LOL but it is literally the most aggressive and rude comment on the video.

Some have disagreed politely or suggested they wouldn't move (again only voicing an opinion) and unless people have been deleting it or maybe he got some stick on Social Media (like twitter which is an utter cesspit of depravity) he hasn't copped much flak at all.

Personally think he'll be loving the attention (we all would, don't deny it) and the "I got it wrong video" isn't an apology headline to me it's more of a statement to garner more support and get more views - clever marketing tbf to the lad he's got nearly 70,000 views in 5 days...

Some good ideas in his video but there would be a huge amount of infrastructure required for a move to Benton, the arena/calders leadworks site has got plans but has had plans by many developers over the past 20 years and nothing has ever happened so still could be an option, however I think St James' Park will be there for many years to come, with some improvements and cmall incremental increases in capacity, maybe rebuilding the east stand/ gallowgate to have more seats on the current footprint.

I didn't but like I say read all the comments on it. If you can't handle the heat get out the kitchen. I've come off Twatter as it is a load of bollocks mate, people can't take someone else's opinions and get abusive, then hide behind their avi's. Can't say I blame him but if you wanna run a channel you best be ready for the trolls - sad, but its a fact of life nowadays unfortunately in that line of work - get he's got something that means he may take it to heart but only option is to come off twatter in that case or roll with the punches and just laugh at the sad ****s on there.

They'd have to develop the two lower sides of the stadium to get that much. I think if they can get the Gallowgate and West corner in line with the Milburn stand you could get what? Around 10,000 seats maybe up to 65K? That'd still be amazing and then see what happens in the future if you could find a way to add another 15,000 later

Yeah, see how 65k plays out then extend further if needed.

80k sounds a bit overkill for now. I think we'll just about fill 65k, not sure if we'd be able to get 80k in.

Yeah initially a 50%+ jump in tickets would be hard to fill but 10-15,000 would still be easily achievable. The rate the tickets sell out at present you'd easily sell 10,000 more and if there are spare going offer them to local schools at a massively discounted price for families. The upper Milburn is the family section so just continue that around the West corner and then the Gallowgate will fill itself week in week out.

Imagine if the Gallowgate was all safe standing as well :emoticon-0115-inlov would be a bouncing black and white wall behind that goal.

The stadium at 53k sells very quickly, so I think 60-65 is definitely achievable most games.

Employing top architects is the game
Then it's up to them to get the best out of the space
From what I'm hearing, it's no where near 30k extra seats

But what do I know :emoticon-0103-cool:

I like that Amanda knows that moving the stadium would be ripping it out of the city.

She knows about the club for sure.

A lot could depend on how the rules regarding safe standing progress in this country. Currently over here it’s one standing place per one seating place with the seats still useable but if the German model was allowed, which seems to work fine, then it’s two standing per one seat with the seats locked upwards.
If that happened then an extended ground capable of seating 65,000 could easily convert 15,000 seats using both ends into 30,000 standing places thus giving an 80,000 crowd. It’s possible but only with the relevant rules for safe standing changed to the German model. We’ll see. The future looks exciting.

I'd guess that the only way you'd ever get 80k in there would need to involve Gallowgate expansion, significant development of safe standing AND an East Stand increase.

The days of me standing at matches are long gone, but I speak as a near (but not near enough) pensioner. There's many who'd be up for it.

Hypothetically, the football stadium could be moved about 15-20 metres west as well as extending the Gallowgate. An underground pedestrian pass could be built under Barrack Road for those arriving from 'Nam and Elswick.
The club would probably be able to continue playing at St.James's while the construction is ongoing.
This could result in a taller East Stand being constructed 15 metres further from Leazes Terrace, allowing for a taller stand (natural light unaffected) of vastly superior design and architectural merit.
Having said all that, I'd still vote for a move to the Arena site as I believe that would be more beneficial to the city.
