The Ukrainians see no point in surrendering at any stage.

 

If people want to pay Boris a quarter of a million for a game of tennis then that is fine because we live in a country that allows freedom of speech, association and dissent.

We even allow stupid Remainer women to keep grumbling six years after Project Fear lost the vote. We did steal a word from the Germans to describe laughing at them: schadenfreude.

 

Given the current outcome, the Russians seem to have wasted their money if they thought it would help them run the UK.

Why does the Ukraine think that they will get any military assistance from Germany? They have a direct gas pipeline from Russia to avoid the surcharges on the pipeline that goes through Ukraine; and the EU President, German Ursula von der Leyen, used to send the German army on manoeuvres with broomsticks when she was Defence Minister because of Merkel’s defence spending cutbacks.

If the Ukrainians want some more anti-tank missiles, then they should get their man in London to have a word with Liz Truss and Ben Wallace.

Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has said she would support British nationals who chose to go fight alongside the Ukrainian forces against the Russian invasion.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has promised to arm foreign volunteers to travel to his country to join the battle against Vladimir Putin’s forces.

Asked on the BBC’s Sunday Morning programme if she would support UK citizens who chose to answer the call, Ms Truss said: “That is something people can make their own decisions about.

“The people of Ukraine are fighting for freedom and democracy, not just for Ukraine but for the whole of Europe.

“Absolutely, if people want to support that struggle I would support them in doing that.”

She also said that the Government is “urgently” looking at what more it can do to enable refugees from the fighting in Ukraine to come to Britain.
