It should be every Russian bank and be accompanied by a full trade embargo

For the Russians, it doesn't seem like the most insurmountable problem to circumvent, given the scope of finance apps and money transfer technology

Funny you should say that, now imagine if this happened with SWIFT, imagine the risk by other means...

The danger is that cutting them off, facilitates a another way for Russia and any of its backers to establish an alternative means for transacting

If they need to find a way to transact, they will

That's what I'm saying, Russian criminals will have a field day 'with any old method of transfer' - UK banks alone lose a million pounds a day, through any old method.

People have been fooled for years thinking your money is safe if it is in a bank, it's not, it just means they insure you for losses and pay you interest. You only had to look what happened in Canada, when they started threatening to freeze people's accounts. Once we go totally digital, governments will have total control of your funds and your life, as Mr Putin is just about to find out to a degree.

Booting them out of swift will defo **** up every day transactions, and buy some leverage

The danger is, isolating them further and facilitating an alternative means to transact

Whatever method, it's not a stretch to suggest that Russian individuals will find a way to circumvent it

We've been enabling their crooks to do it for years via the London stock exchange lol

    It is a worry.

Back him into a corner then there is a risk he'll start firing in all directions possibly even with nuclear weapons if its the only leverage he has left.

I'm not worried at all, I'm getting tired of the pissing around with Putin tbph. I think once he causes a massacre in Kyiv he will deserve an almighty slap. I'm all for hearing both sides of an argument, but once you start slaughtering innocent people, I choose a side.

I don't think (hope) it will come to that.

I reckon Putin is a psychopath for sure, but there's plenty more the West could do if it looked like he was going to hit the red button

There will be folk working on his allies right now, trying to persuade them to ditch him.

They'll try and diffuse him first
