Do you still have confidence you have the ideas to turn this around? Of course. This period like that one after Forest away in 2020 - draw strength from that experience? I don't think they are comparable moments. A competition within the best teams, but we are in a competition where that reality changes. Of course, the situation is serious. No team that accumulates successive defeats maintains the confidence in what they are doing or in the coach. What am I trying to say? If I evaluate their effort, I feel com, pletely backed up with what the team is trying to do because they are giving their all. Clearly, I cannot ignore those who make an effort and get nothing in return. They put in doubt in what they do. It's not a question between the team and I. It's a question of the reality we are constructing and the one we need to generate. We need to impose what we are attempting and we are not managing it. Also a thing not a justification in any way, the games against Villa, West Ham and Newcastle were very good on our part. They do not reflect the same situation as this one. The situation is earmarked by the fact we have played three of the best six teams in the PL. Understand me, I am not justifying the results. The results continue to show the team is not stable. It's not the same succession of difficult opponents than against another kind of opponent. While making this explanation, of course what I am saying does not have consistency. In those three games, we have conceded 14 goals. Fine about the power of the opponents, but these opponents don't win by this margin very often. How frustrating are you finding it? The problem is not the absence of the players. With the totality of the players things would have been less difficult, but it's clear we should not attribute the results to the absences. There is something evident, in the game against Man U we defended well as Forshaw as DM, Klich intermediate and Rodrigo advanced. That same midfield did nto manage to recover well against Liverpool. Today, when we played with seven players with a more defensive profile, a back four and three midfielder with a more defensive profile, we did not defend better. I decide a more defensive profile and we concede more goals. Offensive or defensive profile: still conceding. Sixty goals in - harsh truth you have to improve defensively or face relegation? The amount of goals conceded, of course it has a decisive influence on the results we obtain. No team can think in progressing within the competition if you have a defensive weakness that's so manifested like ours. I think, lost efficiency in the way we play. Not a problem in only how we defend, but the total functioning of the team. We don't defend good or bad depending on the last line of the team. We also don't attack well or good depending on the offensive line. We are a team where one thing conditions the other. That link has stopped being efficient. We had a distinctive route the speed in the transitions. We attacked without that preventing us from defending when we had the ball. We could defend without that preventing us. Now this transition is not linked to the lack of desire. That is costing us. Difficult to recover the ball and to retain possession. We're with the ball, but without the capacity to damage the opponent and when we lose the ball in some way we facilitate their attacks. Convinced the players are still with you? If I measure the effort I have to say yes. If I look at what we get and don't get I can't lie we are not getting what we used to get. When the players give their all physically with so much effort clearly I have to think what I am proposing it's not that they don't want to do it, it's that they are not managing it. With total honesty, I say it's not the lack of decisions, when a process does not get the expected results, it's natural the one taking it forward starts to lose confidence. A consequence that's expected. Due to it not being as affective it becomes harder. Positive things are contagious, but so are negative things. When something is not going well it's less easy to do. You cannot be responsible for individual errors I sincerely don't see it that way. Our way of playing has two great needs: a press in the opponent's half that prevents the ball getting to their forwards cleanly and so when their forwards receive the ball they find themselves uncomfortable because the pass was made difficult. In the last three games that hasn't happened. We did not manage to press well their build-up. Made enormous efforts but it did not work. The passes that came from back to front, they could always pick them. In that case it's not easy for the line that has to recover the ball to be efficient in this. To be just with the response, when you press and you defend going forwards, the press needs to be good so the defence has options to recover the ball. That's not happening. Our players are making enormous efforts to obstruct their build-up and despite that the opponents are managing to circulate the ball well. After, with that ease to find it forwards it becomes difficult to sustain. This explanation makes the players exempt. When you propose something the players are not able to [...]. Time they played more responsibly after what you have done for them? I don't see it the way you are suggesting. I also haven't done for them what you say. Either way, I compose a style of play they can take forward. That allowed for a positive cycle. In this moment, it's very difficult for us to compose our way of playing. I need to know how to understand the same way a style of play is built and affective, that means the coach interpreted the reality well. When the opposite happens I have to admit what I am proposing is not working. Bielsa's here - how are you affected by the manner of that? Obviously, it's not just this game. A succession of results. Against these type of results there is no way of not feeling badly.
the players are losing their nerve and the way we play is affecting them.dallas plays a different position every week.
why not just play one up top and five in midfield and try for a draw or sneak a win.we made kane look brilliant today giving him freedom to roam.
Brentford v Leeds last game of the season, we need a result to stay in the Premier and Pontus scores a winner to send us down
Bielsa’s future at Leeds in serious doubt, Marsch in line to replace him By David Ornstein and Phil Hay February 26, 2022 Leeds suffered a 4-0 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road on Saturday, after they were beaten 6-0 at Anfield by Liverpool on Wednesday. Sources say that Bielsa’s position at Leeds has been under heightened consideration since that heavy loss at Liverpool, and Leeds were again a distant second best on Saturday. Marsch is thought to have been among the candidates to replace Bielsa if a change was to be made in the summer, but those plans could now be escalated. It remains possible that Bielsa, 66, could yet to decide to walk away from the club of his own volition. His departure will be complicated for Leeds to manage, given that he has a complex contract and pays his own backroom staff, meaning the club must yet work out how to pay them off. The club would also have to move quickly to replace his backroom team, especially considering the club’s increasingly precarious position in the Premier League. The Athletic understands that the former RB Leipzig head coach Marsch is seen as the leading candidate to replace Bielsa. Marsch, a former United States international, previously managed MLS sides Montreal Impact and New York Red Bulls. He moved to Red Bull Salzburg in 2019 and led the Austrian club to a league and cup double in two consecutive seasons. He was then appointed by RB Leipzig to replace Julian Nagelsmann last summer — but was sacked after just four months in charge having won just five games out of 14 this season. He remains highly rated within the game, however, and Leeds hope he will lead them up the Premier League table and away from trouble. Leeds currently sit 15th in the table. Bielsa replaced Paul Heckingbottom as Leeds head coach in June 2018 and led the club back into the Premier League after 16 years away in his second season at Elland Road. Leeds impressed in the Premier League last season, finishing ninth. But they have won just five league matches this time around, picking up one point from their past six matches.
bielsa is supposed to be such a team leader and master tactician.but all i see is someone concerned about his style of play and his way of setting up the team.he is not giving any thought to how it affects the players minds .
Watford coached by a 70+ man in Hodgson, holding a team that outclassed us last week at our place, has only been there a few weeks, we have supposedly got one of the best in the world and can’t organise fck all. He has to do the descent thing and go surely.
yes kept going towards the goal giving two defenders time to get back.he then fired it straight at one of them.
