The U20s were thumped 43-14 by England tonight - but were not helped by receiving a red card in the first half: captain Alex Mann was sent off for a high tackle
I saw some of the game and the tackle. No intention and a little unlucky IMO, could have had a yellow. That's the way it is now though. Every time Wales got in the England half and were looking good they turned the ball over. It seemed competitive until the red card.
Well as they've no idea how to implement any attacking ideas/plan/tactics it looks like they'll attempt to park the bus and hope to win by a penalty. Good luck with that. Hope I'm wrong of course but it appears a management pattern's emerging now.
Agreed - I suspect if that had been an Irish player, with an Irish TMO in Ireland, the English player would have been yellow carded instead for having his head in the wrong place ……
So far we have seen little or nothing of Pivac’s promised attacking style. The WRU picked him based on one successful season at the Scarlets - a season that actually started pretty badly: so badly that the rumours coming out of Llanelli and reaching the Ospreys, were that the players were unhappy …. Admittedly, they turned the season around in hugely impressive style, but appointing Pivac based on that one season, seems a poor decision by Martyn Phillips and Gareth Davies, given that Dave Rennie was available and interested
It's a shame. You have to feel sorry for the players as well, it's a short career and they're losing out when we should be doing better. How he can leave out LRZ for Cuthbert is amazing (no offence to Cuthbert of course). I hope it's not an embarrassing score line today. I'll enjoy the Sco v Fra game at least!
Cuthbert did well against the Jocks, but in all honesty he will be targeted as much if not more than LRZ because of his well-known defensive deficiencies. Sacrificing our most potent and threatening attack option smacks of either a very prudent game plan or a lack of trust in LRZ by Pivac: in much the same way as Gats had concerns about Hooky
The man who the Regions believe tried to bring them to heel, is in the news again… https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/politics/wales-national-museums-body-riven-23299384 Why am I not surprised?
Byron Hayward’s Welsh U20s were thumped 47-15 tonight by the French (zero points in the second half) Welsh rugby is paying a pretty penny for that one season where the Scarlets were successful
Poor old Wayne, I suspect he's going for 3 out of 3 tonight (French losses). Can we play 80 like we (bizarrely) did the second half against England? No, obviously.
France have the potential for over confidence but I can't see it with the Sean Edwards influence. We may have to rely on a red card or two!
