Get all those prison nonces, rapists, terrorists, kiddie fiddlers, and murderers into uniform now.....and get our SAS, Para's and Marines whip them into to a 'fast track outfit' ........and then march them to the Ukraine front line to meet Karma.

Would Putin hold that sort of stuff back to make it look like they haven't got it for some reason? I'm no military expert but I expected them to roll in and absolutely blitz their way to Kiev but it doesn't seem to be like that. From what the Americans did in terms of 'shock and awe' in Iraq it doesn't look like Russia have anything like that.

This for me. I was watching the video of the columns entering Ukraine, one tank must have stalled, another almost went into the back of it, he stalled again, the tank one the right side of the column must have been watching what was going on not noticing the tank had stopped in front. It was like a keystone cops invasion
Ukraine knew they couldn’t hold all of the land, they will lose but I think they’ve played a blinder. Picked their battle lines and when they did, made sure Russian losses were high
I’m not sure what happens now, there will be huge losses if they have to go street fighting in Kyiv and I don’t think the normal Russian soldier will have the heart for that fight. they seem to think throwing mass numbers at it will overcome, and that is their MO. A Russian infantryman is the epitome of cannon fodder, Afghanistan was a classic example of it, huge losses. Looking at some of the equipment blown up, they look like 70’s rocket launchers, tanks look extremely small and dated in comparison

Russia has nearly always been an antiquated nation, yes they have oil but so does Scotland... That doesn't make them as rich and powerful as Western nations, particularly us and America. According to the below, they're not even in the top 10 richest nations in the world. Pretty much everything they've achieved, and I say achieved lightly, has been from plans stolen from mainly the Americans.

List of richest countries in the world 2022: Check the net worth of China, US, Australia, UK, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Germany, France, and Sweden (jagranjosh.com)

Been reading that Ukrainian troops let Russian ground forces go through unhindered then completely surround them and then attack. Apparently Moscow are reporting that there haven't been any Russian casualties.

That's a good strategy bearing in mind Russia thought they'd jut walk in and takeover. As I said earlier, a lot of Russia's tactics seem to indicate they haven't moved on in terms of strategy since the 80s.

Yes, but they have the 2nd biggest store of nukes in the world and a leader unhinged and arrogant enough to use them, so what can be done about it without risking the distinct possibility of armageddon? Little wonder every despotic regime in the world is absolutely desperate to get them. The ultimate equaliser, the ability to press the "off" switch if backed into a corner. We need rid of nukes, not a clue how that could ever be achieved.

Edit- they have the biggest store, not 2nd biggest.

Them things certainly don't come cheap, each press of the button is well north of 100k. Good on the Ukrainians for putting them to good use.

Makes sense, the Germans have got no use for them......

If they really wanted to help they'd remove their opposition to booting Russia out of Swift.

I think part of the reason for a more sedate approach is if they try to shock and awe the place they will have a **** load of stuff to fix up once they have taken control. They certainly don’t have the tech to pick such precise targets as the Americans have and would likely demolish the place in the process of missing most of what they are aiming for.
I also think they are poorly trained and a bit piss weak compared to hardened British units who actually know what they are doing and how to achieve it.
Putin wants to hope we don’t get pissed off and send those troops in, they won’t look too good against well equipped British troops who will show them up for what they are.

It’s like watching Cold War footage. The russians had 12000 battle tanks and enough fuel to get them into downtown Moscow and no further. Super power my arse. Nothing has changed by all accounts. Next time they fly a few bear bombers down the channel we should scramble the typhoons and shoot the ****ers down. The Russians will do **** all, toothless spent Cold War sabre rattling non entities. Nothing more. Bet their nukes are as **** as their tanks only good at squashing old blokes in Dacias.

Really?! Russia is, relatively speaking, absolutely minted. European countries pay them billions for their gas. Germany gets 65% of it's gas from Russia, for example. I'm not certain, but I suspect Russia probably prioritises spending on their nuclear deterrent. I hope, whoever is trusted with planning for that possibility, doesn't assume that they needn't worry, cos the bombs 'might' not work!
