Apparently 3,000 Russian troops have been killed.

They had 200k on the borders so that’s a reasonable chunk gone. In 2 days. I do wonder whether Russia actually expected Ukraine to actually defend themselves?

Definately not. 3,000 + Ukrainians reportedly less than a 1,000 killed because of one man.

I wouldn't read too much into any numbers of casualties coming out at the minute. None of it can be verified and the numbers reported by either side will be very different. That isn't even about reporting bias on either side. There will be a lot of confusion, and no country at war will give away the accurate situation as they need a level of uncertainty in the minds of the enemy.

The real figures are probably somewhere between what each side is reporting.

I haven't seen that all I've seen is people telling things as they are. You can look at the big picture without condoning anything. I don't think anyone in their right mind would condone blowing up innocent people, but too just ignore it when it suits? Reminds me of the takeover situation.

I think we're all fully aware that there's evils going on all over the world and it's linked directly to this result.. Ie money and greed

Yeah you can have a walk about on your own for free. I don't like the idea of people making money from went on there, so I'll have a walk about.

Like I say Ukraine have no chance they've surrounded them and the nets closing in. If you're defending positions you have a big advantage and Ukraine will fight with everything they've got. It's an absolute tragedy.

If Ukraine were doing so well they'd not be handing out guns to taxi drivers mate. In war you've got to keep the spirits up, but they need help and it's not coming.. Sanctions? Seriously if this was us I'd be sat there thinking where the **** is the help? They're going to let them kill us all.

There's probably people like you or me holding guns telling their kids help will come.. Its not going to... We the Brits and the Yanks are not going to help.. Nobody is going to help.

If I'm them it's people with guns and tanks I want not nasty bills being sent.

Regardless as to whether you believe in a God or not I know one man who I would love to rot in Hell for ever more.

A couple of old quotes spring to mind.

    First by Herbert Hoover.

“Older men declare war. But it is the youth that must fight and die.”

    And the second by Roosevelt.

“War is young men dying and old men talking.”

    Never been so true.

You could add to that Jean-Paul Satre: "When the rich wage war it's the poor who die"

I can't be arsed to go back and find the quote from earlier in the thread to quote, but I disagree with you about this not being the time to look at the wider picture.

First of all, I think I have made it clear in the thread that I don't believe Russia (or Putin) has any justification for invading Ukraine and that the whole world should be doing far more to support Ukraine and stand by them to repel every Russian soldier out of their country.

However, I think it is good to look at the bigger picture, especially when you consider the mistakes in the past that have been made when trying to resolve conflict. Too often the resolution has created as many problems as it has solved. Looking at our own past failings, and even looking at how some of the actions happening now can be related to our own past mistakes, can provide a valuable process of understanding to see a more balanced view of how to go forward.

I don't agree with any of the comments people have made about forcing Ukraine to surrender or that they should have been forced to become neutral. However, people discussing similarities between what Russia is doing and what we have done ourselves gives us a far more powerful understanding of how the world will see us and the consequences of our actions than it would once the attrocity of what is happening has dulled in our minds.

I think you are doing the very thing that you are criticising others for. You are assuming that those disagreeing with you and putting forward an alternative viewpoint haven't tried to understand the bigger picture, and haven't looked at as much background as they can. Perhaps they have and just came to different conclusions?

You didn't say it above, but you have said elsewhere in the past that those putting down points you have made are sheep who are too blind to understand the opposite point of view. To dismiss anyone who disagrees with you as just people who watch too much BBC is to do exactly what you criticise others for Pouchy.

there was a ticket booth at Auschwitz 1 taking money for both sites. I recommend a guide though. You learn a lot more. Think most of the cost is transport as it’s 1 hour 40 mins to get there. Longer if you walk.
