I can't figure this out from Putin's perspective. What's his end game, because as far as I can see, he's ****ed however it plays out.

If he'd stuck to defending the Donbass etc, I could see some sense, and it would give him a position in additional talks, but right now, it looks like not only was his game plan wrong, his troops are getting their arses kicked by the Ukrainians, who look to be coming out of this as a far more respected nation.

Having spent time in Kiev and the Ukraine, it was clear they would always be a formidable enemy. I can't figure out how Putin would not have known that.

All I can think is, he's either a genius with a plan not yet revealed, or he's ****ing bonkers.

Anyone that's been there, or met Ukrainians knows they're not liable to just roll over, especially against Russians. Putin's plan seems oblivious to this.

You dont need an airport to deliver military equipment. It can be dropped by parachute.

 

Certainly some things can or even lowered down from a helicopter, but it would be easier and quicker to do it with big planes landing at an airport.

The Ukrainians with strong Russian links rolled over years ago and the ones fleeing Kiev the other day will, but I agree that they also have some very proud citizens that won't.

 

Well at least this has distracted us from a 40% increase in deaths due to the jab programme.

Good interview with Sir Richard Shirreff.

In 2016, Shirreff published a book entitled 2017: War with Russia: An Urgent Warning from Senior Military Command. The part-fictional book suggests that Russia could easily invade the Baltic States, that war between Russia and NATO would be possible, and implies strongly that Shirreff finds military high command and government incompetent of creating a suitable response.

IN the interview he argued that NATO should make sure they have a sufficient military presence on their eastern borders and increase military spending.

There were attempts to court marshal him when he disagreed with defence cuts.

All I can think is that the attack on Kiev is designed to draw troops away from the regions he actually wants to hold. The media keep talking of the Russians not achieving their military objectives, but I doubt they actually know what they are.
