Government should nationalise it without compensation ready to sell to a suitable buyer, and as an add on tell the Arabs that any aid given to Russia in any form will mean the same happening to all their assets in UK, Harrods, Man City, Everton and Newcastle etc America should be doing the same as we speak On the news today it appeared that Germany and Italy have shown their true colours as NATO members and France will undoubtably follow suit In the long term it might depend on wether the Baltic States and former Yugoslavia resist Russia or just hand over the keys to their countries Poland could be the place where Europe make a last stand against Imperial Russia, I hope it does not come to this and a peaceful solution can be found without massive loss of life, but we thought that in 1938 when dealing with a maniac and that ended well or not Maybe a sniper bullet is the only way to end what Putin has started
We all think that way Pinkie even me pushing 75, but until we are facing the bullets we won't know how we will react but when it is in your own country fighting for your family I think we will do what it takes
Yeah, my first thought was just get away with my girls and flee. But if it was in my own home town and a foreign force was threatening to overrun it and impose their own army ? Then what would you have left anyway ? And would my family ever be able to return ? It would be a horrendous decision to have to make, but I would make sure that my girls were as far away from it as possible and then I would be free to rain down absolute hell on anybody who dared to try and take over.
It's funny because that's what the Palestinians have been trying to get across to the world for 60 years. Not aimed at you Pinkie, but why is this passionate empathy and understanding for other's desperate plight under tyranny only prevalent when political spin and western media tells us who the good and bad guys are?
You know my views on Palestine mate. And yes, their plight has largely been ignored by most in the West. And you're right, people are quite selective about which cause they'd fight for. I'm just trying to put myself in that situation, if it was my home and my liberty that was being threatened. I'd want to run away from it all, but I think when it comes to the crunch, I'd stay and fight.
Oh I agree mate. That last part in particular is what I was focusing on. We're no different to anyone in the main. You'd defend your home, loved ones and your homeland against anyone looking to take it over or destroy it or your people. At least the Ukrainians have the support of the wider world. Imagine you were in that situation and the world had turned its back on you. Then doing whatever it takes to defend your family, home, homeland at all costs and by any means takes on a whole new level of desperation.
Yep, Ukraine has the backing of the west, with arms and finance, if not troops on the ground. But places like Palestine have just been left to get on with it, fighting with home made rockets, and literally rocks and stones. Their plight is no different to those Ukrainians, but the West has chosen to label their Govt as terrorists and backed Israel's 'right to defend itself' When you've got absolutely **** all, then like you say, you make increasingly desperate decisions and actions. It's why I don't agree with people on here who say that Afghans are cowards and ran away. It's a very different situation there, as you know well, it's a fractious tribal area with many different ethic factions at play. But since the Taliban were last disposed, the Afghan govt that was instilled and propped up by the US was weak and corrupt. Ordinary Afghans there had very little cohesive structure to fight for. There was no coordinated attempt to rally its citizens to fight for the cause. The president left the country as did much of the army and the police. They literally just left people to fend for themselves, and unsurprisingly, many chose to try and get the **** out.
I watched the full video of that from a top down view on GC. There may be some context with them being under crossfire. Still looks horrific though, thank fck the bloke was alright.
The U.S. crying about Russia vetoing the UN resolution denouncing its invasion of Ukraine Not like the U.S. hasn't been vetoing UN resolutions against atrocities being committed by their bezzie mates like Saudi and Israel, oh no not at all. Only highlights why the way the U.N. is setup with some having these vetoes is morally corrupt and makes the UN largely ineffective in these situations. Chickens coming home to roost
