Huge Russian forces invading a vast country like Ukraine & no one will dare lay a glove on them. Never thought I’d see the day. A sad day for European peace.

Brussels are calling the Russians an authoritarian regime, but isn't this what a lot of Europe and America/Canada have become over recent years, this is the sort of narratives that annoy me, go look in mirror ffs.

Examples could probably be found in our woke thread, if you dare disapprove of certain behaviours, I was only saying the other day, it's only a matter of time in the UK and Europe before we start seeing people arrested, for thinking certain ways.

We was only chatting on here yesterday, about a broadcaster from China being banned, that followed by the most recent request to review RT's (Russia) licence, so we are part of an authoritarian regime already.

Our voting systems achieve nothing but a cycle between two parties. Oh I forgot the third party, the ones they hold at Number 10, while everyone else is locked down, again authoritarian.

Let alone we in the UK are one of the most CCTV'd countries in the world. Not to mention the cashless society, digital records of everything you do.

    Why?

What part of what you quoted is untrue?

We do only have a cycle of two parties, neither party is any better than the other, the last time Labour were in, they took us to war in Iraq, this time with the Tories, Boris thinks he's Churchill.

Did the government lock us down authoritarian style while the government party, yes they did.

Europe was edging closer and closer to Russia as a Federal State, Poland, Hungary, Romania....next stop the Ukraine, Putin said no.

As for being one of the most CCTV'd countries in the world, that is true, as for everything being a digital footprint that is true.

Did we ban a Chinese media channel yes we did, did we seek to review a Russian media channel, yes we did.

Did Brussels (spokesperson) say Russia were an authoritarian state, yes they did.

Have we got a woke thread that highlights some of todays issues, yes we have.

Sorry I worry you for pointing out the truth. <ok>

Kinda means they can do as they please now tbh.

In response, we should invade Ireland. They never really existed anyway.

    Cheers Trebs.

Maybe people see my words as support of Putin invading Ukraine, I'll make it clear to them, I do not support his claim to the Ukraine, I'm merely saying, I understand what he's doing, that's two different things in my book.

Will we do anything, well let's put it this way, if we take any military action in response, then whoever does it, is more stark raving bonkers than me. :)

That's how I see it. They poked the bear with a **** stick, now deal with the consequences.

    We're equally complicit as him.

The other points you make in the original post we've spoken about before. We're sleepwalking into stuff which nobody seems to be talking about.

On your last point, we won't be sending any military in for Ukraine. But what happens IF he crosses the border into an Eastern European NATO country. By all accounts we have to respond militarily and at that point it really becomes a game of chicken or all out war.

On your last point mate, I would suggest the UK/Europe get troops and military armoury on those fronts, it's going to be costly, but you have show Putin where the line is into the EU. Personally I don't feel he will cross into it, but he's quite unpredicatable at the moment, so it's going to require calm heads but decisive non military action. We need to walk the walk and stop talking the talk. First target has to be Chelsea FC and throw them into adminsitration, we can work from there onwards < that's knackered me for getting a like off BobbyD.

My concern is if fighting spills over into Poland. NATO won’t lift a finger against Russia for invading Ukraine, just stern words and sanctions. The Polish-Ukrainian border is Putin’s Rubicon.

Even a border skirmish between Russian and Polish forces by ‘accident’ would be catastrophic.

I can see why you say Poland but it's not one of the old soviet republics and he holds no historical claim to it. I'd be very surprised if he went into a country with no ties to the USSR.

I think Putin will avoid it spilling over, that's not saying it will not happen accidently as you point out, but I got the impression from Putin, his only intentions were the Ukraine. He wants back what split off after Gorbachev. I'm assuming that the Ukraine was one of those areas. Going to need cool heads, but the media will show any explosion that happens around two dozen times per hour, every hour of every day, and always look to increase any magnitude of what is really happening by 10 ten fold.
