I very much doubt NATO has anything to do with protecting Taiwan, but I get what you are saying

 

It’s more about China being emboldened by the West’s response (or lack of) to Russia’s full-scale invasion of a sovereign country in Europe. If NATO’s only response to an invasion of Ukraine is sanctions and strong words, they’re not going to do much to China if they invade Taiwan.

NATO have intervened before on behalf of non-NATO states/regions like Kuwait and Kosovo in the 90s, but Iraq and Yugoslavia didn’t have an arsenal of nukes. Russia and China must be laughing their bollocks off.

 

The only way NATO gets involved militarily is if the war in Ukraine spills over the border into Poland. Then we’re collectively frigged.

 

It will certainly be "interesting" to see how it pans out. Putin doesn't seem to give a ****.

 

Britain should stay well clear of Ukraine and Taiwan .
We have a responsibility to the people of Hong Kong as we stole that a while back and they should be first in line for refugee status .

There will always be a Btitish element and we can travel there as Btitish citizens without a Visa .

The EUROPEAN UNION swallowed up all the ex Soviet states and they are bordering Russia and Ukraine so let Ursula von der Leyen and Macron sort it out .

Japan and America should move a few aircraft carriers to Taiwan but we don't have much of a navy so leave that well alone too.
