So,reading that,it appears that Anton was not aware that Terry had said anything to him at that time, presumably because of the din. Now JT can say that he thought Anton had asked him if he had called him a ***** **** again because of the din, even though Ferdinand wasn't speaking to him at the time. Ventriloquism, anybody?
JT won't get done by the Met Police who have their own shining record of being anti-rascist. It does sound like there was a mix up. Terry called Ferdinand a FBC without thinking (showing his true colours), then back-tracked almost immediately suddenly realizing what he had done. Terry speaks to Ferdinand and finds out that Ferdidnand didn't actually hear him at the time so wondered what he was talking about. Terry says "phew, that was close" then the sh*t hits the fan when someone releases it on youtube. Terry syas "Sh*t, how am I going to get out of this one" and proceeds to come out with misleading statements and gets the backing of his manager who can't understand why a liar and a cheat who happens to be a representative of our country should be accused of such a thing. In fact, being a senior representative of this country makes the situation all the more sad. Police and FA brush the thing under the carpet. End of.
It's clearly going to be a matter of: 1. what the FA feel is appropriate for people to say, whether they say it in anger or say it when seeking clarification. 2. whether they believe JT (a player whose history is chequered, to say the least) or Anton's version of events. Personally, it's not appropriate at any time, there were many ways that JT could have asked about it / denied it without repeating the phrase, and given the way JT was wound up and aggressive throughout the game, I don';t believe for a second he is the innocent party he's trying to make out. But it's up to the FA, and not me, to decide whether this racist, unfaithful thug is guilty or innocent.
