You're not far wrong, another Evans project that one, fans love him, I think he's a donkey but what do I know.
This Chelsea game a good example of why getting rid of away goals was a terrible idea. After Chelsea's second there could have still been some potential jeopardy for Chelsea with an away goal whereas instead it's tie over and its turned into a procession with 80 minutes of the tie left.
Guess you could argue in the second leg it goes to 1-1 it’s not over whereas with away goals it would be.
Fair point I suppose but I'm still not a fan. It will result in far more teams settling for extra time and then possibly penalties and therefore duller games in general. Used to love the topsy-turvy nature of some second legs as a draw isn't an option in the vast majority of cases.
We’d have had some European football in the 90s if it weren’t for Heysel I believe. Thanks Liverpool.
Away goals was supposed to make for a more interesting game with the away team being more attacking. It worked in reverse and home teams (first leg) became more defensive. Good idea but in reality added nothing, now teams have to play the game in both legs.
weird how people are terrified of things they are never likely to come into contact with. I’m terrified of Salt Water crocodiles, god knows why!
Goodison produces quite a large amount of salty water every matchday, so perhaps you're fears could become reality?
