Fairly obvious that appeasement was never going to work. Just ask those who were in charge in the Crimea. But no, the modern Chamberlain knew better. <doh>

    Damn it’s not Roman.
The PM also said sanctions would be applied to billionaires Gennady Timchenko, Boris Rotenberg and Igor Rotenberg as three "very high net worth individuals".

Was listening to an American expert today who was urging the UK not to adopt this progressive sanctions process with the next step dependent on how much territory they take, but just go immediately after Putin’s personal assets. These are held by 50 oligarchs, on his behalf, all who have major assets in London. Presumably one of them is Roman Abramovich. It would be great if the UK government try and seize Chelsea. The Premier League would then to have fail them as suitable owners as apparently a club can’t be owned by a State.

That would be the icing on this delicious cake. Especially as it's one of the big 6 who tried to get our takeover thrown out!

I mean Chelsea's finances would be a sight to see if Roman had to pull out. I bet they pump plenty of dirty Russian money through the accounts and buy up English assets through the football club...

Taking the Chelsea situation out of it, this is what needs to be done. They won't respond to gradual sanctions. Gradual sanctions just encourage them to take as much land as they can afford when taking any land should be the line they cannot cross. They won't do it though as they have allowed Russian money to prop up a grey property market in London for years. Full sanctions would also hit the City of London and those who make their money there. That shouldn't matter. Any incursion should be hit hard but our government won't risk the money they have coming in from the Russian grey market.

Russia would be a far more powerful and rich nation if it just didn't engage in these moronic dick waving attempts, as was the case in the early days of Putins regime, it was one of the only nations to not be smashed by the 2008 financial crises, supported the US after 9/11 gave a ton of cheap fuel to Europe and people were far, far better off. It's those early day's that still give Putin a tremendous amount of goodwill with Russian people.

As the man has gotten older, fatter, more corrupt and clearly more paranoid about the state of his government and Russia as a whole they've gotten poorer, weaker and more aggressive.

People always point out Russia is a bear, this bear is underfed and terrified of hibernation. So it's lashing out at everything it can get it's paws into.

The man is a ****ing fraud, he's a coward in truth.

Just let Russia and Ukraine fight it out... If Russia get more greedy worry about it after that.

Let fights happen.. Don't jump in... Let them get it out their system shake hands after one side shuts the other up.

    Ukraine must yield.. Problem solved.

I don't see Russia pressing on further
