Liverpool v Leeds Utd Wednesday 23rd February@19:45pm | Anfield Leeds will be without the services of Robin Koch for the visit to Anfield on Wednesday evening as the Whites look for their first victory since the West Ham game in Mid-January. The German International picked up a head injury during the 4-2 loss to Manchester Utd at the weekend, and was substituted ten minutes later. A club statement released on Monday read "Robin will follow the concussion protocols before returning to play." Still without the services of Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford; Marcelo Bielsa's hands are somewhat tied regarding Wednesday's line up. We need to remember that the conditions on Sunday were treacherous; at times it was like wading through treacle! Klich in particular looked extremely lethargic during the latter parts of the game. Stuart Dallas is expected to step up to midfield, as Junior Firpo is fit to start in his traditional left back role. Raphinha too is likely to be recalled to the starting XI following his goal at the weekend. Bielsa must decide who to play up front; Rodrigo, James and Gelhardt all vying for the lone strikers role. Liverpool will be without Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota as they aim to move within three points of leaders Manchester City. The Brazilian attacking midfielder picked up a muscular injury in the 3-1 win over Norwich at the weekend whilst Jota is a long term absentee with ankle ligament damage.
The team for Wednesday I would pick is ……………..Meslier…………….. Ayling……Llorente…Cresswell….Struijk ………..Forshaw ….Dallas…………… …..Raphinha…..Rodrigo…… James….. ……………….Gelhardt…………….. If he plays Firpo or Roberts from the off then I am totally done with Bielsa, we are now looking prize candidates for relegation and Bielsa is to blame, don’t want to hear about the injuries, we had a transfer window to rectify that and didn’t, also the Bielsaball bollocks is running thin, if Firpo was up to speed and fully fit when he came on the pitch on Sunday then sorry Bielsa direct flights are from Heathrow to Argie land, end of the day it’s imperative we stay up.
I think the fact the busiest threads today are the jokes thread, the politics thread and the climate thread shows how much we’re looking forward to this game
Fed up of repeating ourselves, same old same old Read somewhere that Bielsa said he was surprised that the team still had the support they have
Gary Brooker(Procol Harum)(Whiter shade of pale) Has died at the age of 76, rest in piece and thanks for the memories
So regarding Robin Koch, so we gave ourselves a double whammy there. We didn’t use the concussion free substitute rule because he came off because of his cut, sky reported as the reason from Bielsa, but he misses the next game following the concussion protocols, allowing no room for manoeuvre after the double change at halftime.
There are many injuries to contend with this season, repetitive moan syndrome appears to be the most common aliment, with a large portion of the regular posters going down with this debilitating gripe disorder that effects the basic senses and mental aptitude, leading to intellectual stagnation
We should, if I'm reading the rules right, still have been able to replace him under the concussion rules though and have 4 substitutes during the game.
I think it’s the realisation that we are in deep **** and blind optimism isn’t going to change the results. Down to five points now and with a shattered team that ships goals for fun at the moment about to play Liverpool.
