Enrique was an average at best left back. He was made to look better by Jonas literally busting a ball. Hence why he was found out at Liverpool
He was a good solid left back for me. But you don’t rate him. I also liked the Italian chap but his name is not coming to the forefront of my brain. Went to inter after us.
Santon was quality. Silky smooth. Unfortunately he had a knee as reliable as Murphy's crosses. Capable of playing both sides. Since leaving us he has only been at the very best in Inter Milan and Roma. That tells you his quality. He has also managed on average 10-15 games a season, which tells you his fragility. I thought Enrique was overrated personally. He had one really good season. I think the most disappointing footballer I can recall was Didier Domi. I remember watching his debut and thinking what a slick bastard he was. Everything looked easy. But he just rapidly went to rat ****.
At the beginning he was poor but he gradually turned into a solid LB. That LCB, LB and LM trio of spanish speakers made our left side solid. We have never really fully recovered from losing it.
