Telegraph suggesting Shelvey, Schar and Dummett all to get new contracts in the next few weeks. What are people thinking? Obviously means less coming through the door unless the club are looking to boost their value and sell in the summer as Dummy and Schar are out of contract this summer (along with Longstaff) and Shelvey the year after so could just be protecting their assets value? Suggests to me we are looking for a CB, LB, 2 Wingers and maybe a striker in the summer. With Schar, Burn and Lacselles that'd leave space for one new CB in the summer unless Lacselles is on the way out? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...Echobox&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1645449776
Personally I think it’s great. We need a lot of strength in depth and recently all three have been able bodied backup. I’m delighted if Schar is as it could mean the end of Lascelles. Also tells me they’re happy to stay at that level knowing what’s coming. The days of looking at it with deep cynicism as yet another Ashley penny-pinch exercise are gone; if these guys are getting new deals they must be worth it. I trust the leadership at the club.
Happy enough with Schar as back up next season, Shelvey maybe as back up, we need to be getting rid of Dummett.
Schar yes definitely. I thought Shelvey just signed a long term deal last year? I might be wrong. Dummett has always been solid. But unsure going forward.
I'm ok with this. Shelvey ok back up, Schar 3rd choice hopefully. Dummett 2nd choice LB or maybe 3rd choice after Manq?
I don't mind Schar getting a new contract. He is good back up for next season, good age for a centre back, knows the league. Botman and Carlos will need time to settle. Or De Ligt and Militao Seriously though I think he's a good level with Dan Burn and both can play. I wouldn't give Dummett or Shelvey a new contract. Shelvey has another year to run anyway doesn't he? I can only assume Dummett is do with home grown quotas or something? Nothing against the pair but I'm kinda hoping for better next year regardless how Shelvey is going right now. Plus it'll just make him comfortable, at least he would have an incentive if he is sticking around. I suppose it could be about retaining their value in any sale, but we've been here loads and you just end up with an albatross round your neck. Shelvey shouldn't be more than back up at most but I'd flog him in the summer personally. His stock will be high after his recent form.
I'd flog Shelvey too. With all the fallen down trees I'm sure I can find a whopping great branch to flog with
Exactly get rid of the ****e I'd rather have schar shelvey and Dummett in the 25 than lose them and still have lacelles Hayden and Krafth backing up the new signings
