Even taken in isolation this was a beautiful passage of play. But when you factor in the lateness, the fact we were away from home against the league leaders and the fact that we'd just conceded an equaliser it takes on a whole new significance.

There will be plenty of bumps and potholes on the road to come, but the number of points we have started to pick up really, really late on is beginning to echo our efforts under peak Poch. Many (myself included) have pointed out stupid points dropped, but the results against Watford, Leicester and now City - all away from home it should be noted - gained 7 points and simply would not have happened under Maureen or Nuno.

Not just league leaders but pundits were starting to call them 'the best team in the world'. Seriously, I heard it on TalkShite so it must be true.

The standard of the 'giants' of the football world has plummeted in recent years with so many of them a poor impression of what they were barely a decade ago.

Part of it is down to chronic mismanagement but I'd wager to a large extent it is down to the arrival of the new money teams, especially in the PL. It disrupted the natural order of things and many are struggling to keep up.

Yep, this has been coming since Roman took over nearly 20 years ago. You’ve got the likes of Chelsea, City, PSG and they’ll be joined by Newcastle soon. Clubs that can spend without any fear of debt and it’s massively affected the giants in Spain, Italy and Germany. Players now can earn more playing for those 4 clubs than they could playing for Barca, Madrid or Munich.

    Hardly. :)
Just a series of tidy percentage passes + movement,

IMHO the great moments in that play were the Spurs player
who managed to open his legs to let the first pass go under him,
and the receiving player who then turned away to make
the space so he could get his pass away.

It was the crisp quick first time passes that make it. I personally prefer seeing Kane jumping across Walker to score in the last minute, but the goal that nearly was would have been a dream goal.

Food chains can only support so many species of "apex predator" .
Above that number, and some of them are fated to die out.

I regard that play as a good point of reference for kids,
as to what the fundamentals of the game are all about.
Do that N times per game, and the likelihood is you
well end up scoring a lot of goals.

As for the Kane shot, thinking of VDV I suspect that
someone like him would have dragged the ball
sideways left (anticipating the sliding tackle from the
defender, which would have impeded the GK) .

I'm convinced the only reason Spurs beat City was that I'd given up hope in them completely. So I refuse to feel the slightest flicker of hope for Spurs unless and until they win a big trophy--and survive the inevitable legal challenges seeking to overturn the result.
