It hardly matters he's going to be a box of bones before gamereas even gets a start never mind leaves the richest club in the world
Shelvey is a confidence player. Exactly what we didn't need when things were going tits up. Like you say though, when the mood is good he does offer something. I don't care who does the business on the park as long as it gets done.
Howe I feel is or was intending on dropping Joe willock, but now it's a case of who gets an injury or suspension.
I think he's playing the same game as he has with Lascelles, Clark, Ritchie etc. Let them play, let them get injured or suspended. Drop them and bring in the replacement.
He drives us mad aswell. He’s raised his game so fair play but then that begs the question was he just ‘dossing’ beforehand?
Stories today saying Bruno is frustrated with no game time. Of course you would be, but does anyone think we actually should change it on Saturday against Brentford assuming no injuries? I can see Eddie has a tricky selection headache. IMO Joe and Willock undroppable and Shelvey has been playing also really well the last few games. Thought he was very good at West ham.
It would be a risk, and Bruno recognises this is a long term plan. I think we should be giving him more time though if not a start. I'd keep it the same until someone goes off form and we start losing.
On form, unless one of the current starting 3 did not train well or something I think it would be a bad move to hook one of them for the new guy. We are also in a precarious situation still and if it's working then definitely no need to try and fix it. Good problem to have for a change though. I like Joe in the middle really but maybe if we get in a good position at the weekend we could push him out to the left and bring Bruno on in the middle for a good block of time.
That was exactly my thought. If we're winning and seeing out a result, take off fraser/asm, stick Joe on the left and put Bruno in the CM spot.
I would do that anyway. Joe could still work hard and tuck in if need be. I am sure Bruno will work just as hard. But yes it’s a bit of a risk.
Would you guys agree that as soon as we achieve safety, Burno MUST start. Safety is only concern, after that it's think about the future. Shelvey out as soon as safety is guaranteed, and Bruno should start.
Bruno should be desperate to start. It's very hard to come to terms with this idea of a "squad", as a Newcastle fan. We've had the likes of Longstaff and Hayden waiting on the bench, nobody is/was crying out for them to start, nor were there ever claims of unrest because they must be aware on some level that they're insanely lucky to even be in the PL. I personally think, without a DPP-style agenda, that Bruno should come in for Shelvey at some point. He's done nothing wrong and this would need to be sensitively managed in the right way, but I think if you had Bruno's energy it would allow the two Joe's more freedom, which in turn will transform the side yet further. Eddie will be aware, and it's a delicate balance. He'll know far better than we do what Shelvey is doing in training, in the dressing room, etc. Does everyone look up to him? Are they wanting him to stay in the team? Bottom line is we must trust to Howe on this one. Brentford aren't as physical as some, like West Ham, Burnley, so maybe that's the time to give him a go. He's the future, and Eddie Howe will be making absolutely sure he knows it. Final point - get used to negative press stories, boys. I only have to point to the multitude of Man City stories of unrest with Sterling or De Bruyne to show how petty and full of **** they can be. Bruno wants to play, and so he should, he's a pro ****ing footballer. But the media will make it about how he's "unhappy" at not starting. Ignore it.
