For calling a thief a thief (Gordon muchall). Presumably it was the closet racist keith30 who did it. For long standing reasons. Not a whinge, not a complaint, just an observation. That board is ****ing ****e, the amount of bollocks they let pass by but can't wait to pull someone for telling the truth. Presumably the posts will have been pulled as well.
Friend at work is an 'On the Buses' fanatic, forever wittering on about it. Thread title had me very confused.
Probably 2 of the most grotesque comedy characters ever to grace our screens. Particularly the conductor. Like my childhood wish for Tom to finally flatten Jerry, I always wanted Blakey to get the upper hand. Felt sorry for him.
Stan the bus driver wasn't too bad. Jack the conductor was horribly slimy, but the poor actor got typecast in that character and hardly ever worked again and ended up committing suicide. I was stunned when I discovered that the actress who played Olive had been a stripper (exotic dancer) in her younger days and still worked as a model when she wasn't filming On The Buses.
i saw a few pictures of her without the make up and 'olive' clothing and she was a damn good looking lass...these days she would have her 'good' look plastered all over social media for the likes and followers along with the ego boosts they all need now. EDIT: http://www.onthebusesfanclub.com/id19.html
this went well for the op, starts a look at me thread only for it to be hijacked into a Olives hooters discussion
I remember me dad used to say Olive was made up to look the ugly part and wasn't too bad. Wasn't the best of old comedies thats for sure. Ere @Draig have you ever noticed the film location for holiday on the buses ?
For Sure, Prestatyn, Pontins, Tower Beach rather than Central Beach - went past it many a time on the way to sunny Rhyl
Takes a good actress to become the epitome of ugliness if you aren't naturally ugly. She was the definition of it in the seventies. Everyone referred to an ugly bird as "Looking like Olive from On The Buses"
Good point mate, she really gave that role everything ... ... I'd still have jumped on board though tbh
An Gwrch Castle (grounds only, you don't see the castle itself) an Dyserth Falls - an Borehamwood Studios!
